Hello labor experts of r/antiwork! I applied to a job on Indeed and was contacted by the owner of the company to discuss details and set up a paid working interview. I would be helping a driver deliver CostCo items such as fridges, TVs, a sectional couch, etc. for a set daily pay. We arranged to do it this Tuesday at 7am and he gave me an address. It was a great day that finished up at about 4:30 and I met with the owner afterwards. I told him my initial thoughts, he asked for my CashApp/Venmo to get me paid for the day so I sent him my CashApp (Yes, it was a huge red flag, but I was pretty sold that he was a legitimate contractor so didn't think much of it). He he wanted me to call him the next day to ask any questions I might…
Wife accepted a much lower paying position within the company she works at with the understanding that she would eventually get commission along with her hourly pay, basically trying to sacrifice financially for long term higher earning. (coworker who was hired to said position with her was informed the exact same thing as well) but it turns out that the employer withheld information regarding the commission and pay situation which has obviously resulted in financial loss for us that would not have taken place if she was informed correctly about the pay. Are there any laws against this, what can we do about this situation?
Happy International Women’s Day!
Alright y'all I need any advice about what recourse options I have if any. I did a really good job at work this year, and was told I would be very happy with my year end review. My manager sent me my review comments before our discussion and I noticed that despite all positive glowing comments, I received a below 1.0 raise/bonus factor score, basically you met your job requirements but didn't do great, specifically I performed low in comparison to my peers. I'm not comfortable bragging on myself, but I worked hard, I always volunteer to take on more, my shit is always on time with little to no errors, etc. My manager was completely surprised when in our discussion I said I was disappointed in my score. She didn't realize it would affect my raise/bonus and she didn't realize it wasn't a very good review. She apologized profusely,…
Ain’t gonna lie….
Wife Not Being Paid Proper Overtime
This is in Ohio. My wife's work recently has started a mandatory overtime of 10 hours a week for the next month at least. This is due to them being short staffed and being behind on work. It sucks her being at work an extra two hours a day, but the extra money is helpful with our 3 year old's birthday coming up soon. They are payed a base amount (over minimum wage) and then incentive based on how many claims/items they price(insurance/property loss). Her paycheck is about half base pay, half incentive. The problem is I just found out they aren't giving overtime pay for incentive pay since they classify it as a bonus. This seemed off to me so briefly reading up on it, I found that a “bonus” is only excluded from overtime pay if it isn't directly based on productivity or efficiency, which this is. Am…
Hu everyone, I am having a job interview tommorow for a position that aligns to my career path. My current job is not one of them. If I get the position, how would you put in your notice/resign? I currently owe the company 24 hours of borrowed PTO for a vacation I went to for 2 weeks and they “gave” me 40 hours to cover at least 1 week of me being gone so I could still afford my bills. I know it might look bad wanting to quit while I owe PTO but I am okay with them taking it out of my paycheck.
