I need a new perspective
I like my job. I really truly do. I however don’t like my boss. He’s a super sweet guy, no doubt. But we just don’t click. Our leadership styles don’t match and neither do our communication styles. He’s definitely a kind 40 year old frat boy and I’m definitely more of a straightforward hard headed person. I know that’s a weird way to describe us, but that’s just my way or showing how we’re different. Like he’s water and I’m oil. We definitely don’t hate each other though. I feel happy but unhappy. Like I can stick around but I sort of don’t want to. But I feel so guilty because the only issue is a personality difference. Mind you I’m his Admin Assistant so we need to work closely together. I’m sure I’m making it sound bad, but I can tell he’s closer with other employees over me. I…
Passed over like the holiday
So about 2 weeks ago I got pulled aside for a management position and was told they’re pretty confident I’d be promoted/moved into the role. The only catch they had to talk to the underperforming employee. Fast forward 2 weeks later I haven’t heard anything other than we will talk more about it. But I see the other person still trying to fulfill the management tasks. So I am guessing I haven’t gotten the promotion/title change. And all the extra work/input/QOL changes have been for naught. Oh well. Guess an underperforming/absent employee is best sometimes.
Understaffed?
Manager says she cannot justify that we need more people in our department. Isn't it enough reason that everytime somebody will take a day off, somebody needs to do over time for that staff? Enlighten me.
That’s a pretty scary thought considering if you walk into any public place and ask for water, they’ll tell you to fuck off as if you asked to move into their house. EDIT: not really sure how this ended up being a grinch style poem, but here it is EDIT 2: didn’t know it already existed, what a world. High in the clouds atop of mount Nool, the billionaires set up some deadly new rules. “Work till you can no longer, and then buy all our wares, We’ve ruined the water, polluted the air.” “There’s no other options for shelter or food, not living in company housing is decidedly rude.” “You must buy our water, you can’t breathe the air. We know you can’t pay but we do not care” “You’ll never own property, or even your schooling. If you try to fight back, a bribed judge is ruling.” “You’ll…
Had to play my boss to get my paycheck
Long story short. There was a robbery at work and I was forced by HR to accept the blame because the robbery took place AFTER MY SHIFT. In the next two months, $150 deductions were made from my salary. I decided to start looking somewhere else. I found another job and turned in my notice. My boss informed the accounts department to withhold my paycheck. I decided to lie to my boss and told him I rejected the other offer. He then decided to release my paycheck. As soon as I got it, it was toodles. Now he is all angry and upset, throwing all sorts of accusations. I don't really give an F about all that. I'm just sad I had to lie to get a paycheck that I worked hard for. Was even doing three people's work for the past month! There's a whole lot of shitty employers…
So i'm changing careers, and I'm looking for experience in interviewing for my new career…whats the best way to get experience? To do it I found a job that paid $38k a year in a high COLA area…think like NYC, LA, expensive. Quite frankly I found this job posting insulting considering in lower COLA areas I am seeing $45k-$48k. So anyway I did two rounds of interview, I did really well. They offered me the position at the top of the range…38k. I countered them $95k. They thought I was joking. I then countered with a job add in a city that costs way less then them and basically said “You want me to do this work, this job pays X, and the COLA is way less…so my number is $95k” They said theres no way they would ever give me $95k. And I said that's fine, thanked them for…
