I (26M) am new to this subreddit and saw some real gems but I also saw a few people with just general work complaints that require them to perform they're tasks more efficiently. I wanted to provide some context of international work expectations to help the people that are having a hard time dealing with their work environment. I'm Australian but I've been living in Turkey for 2 years. My current sales job requires me from 9-6 (9 work hours), 5 days a week with an extra half day with 20 minute lunch break and smoking breaks allowed. I'm also expected to reply to leads within a 15 minute time frame outside of work hours until 12am at night. It is 1:30am for my other colleagues, because I'm also managing social media and Google SEO website stuff. I've been told that since my wife is away in another city for…
work ruined my engagement plans
Hello Reddit! I had put in a pto request for July back in February as I am going out of town to propose to my girlfriend. I already have the plane tickets, hotel, engagement photographer, and activity reservations paid for. today I found out my pto request was denied because someone on another shift requested it off as well. how do I go about talking to my manager about this? do I just say fuck it and call off those days anyway?
Until it occurred to me that Elon Musk became one for three different companies and also finds time to tweet everyday and attend sporting events whenever he wants to across the globe. I don’t even find time everyday to use Facebook/Reddit and I’m a bum in comparison lol. I wish there was a documentary that actually followed the life of a CEO so we could really see what they do all day. I have a feeling it’s just sitting in meetings every day all day being chummy and eating delicious take out food. I have a friend that works for an university and they are in meetings about 90% of their work life.

Just in case you need a simple salary calculator, that works out to be approximately $51.51 an hour. This is the equivalent of $2,060/week or $8,928/month. ” While I'm sure this is good news for some of you, I can't believe they are proposing a bump to federal employees. They already make a somewhat good livable wage. When do we raise minimum wage for people who can barely make ends meet?
Apparently, nail polish is a problem.
I am a foreman for a plumbing company. Yesterday we had our foreman's meeting, and I was pulled aside afterwards by the vice-president of our company. He took me into his office to tell me that I was not allowed to wear nail polish as it is unprofessional. He's probably going to visit my site today and check if I took it off. Wish me luck, I like my purple nails.
i just abandoned my job
Boss man provided less than 24 hours notice that we will now me expected to arrive on job sites an hour earlier. My drives are rarely less than 1 hour in a single direction and typically projects last until sundown, if not just before. Today i told them at 7am, the time we're now expected to be on site, that my van is ready to be picked up from my house. I'm free
