I can’t keep this up…
In the past two months I've applied to 94 jobs. Because of my career path and titles, each individual application usually includes several “working” skills questions, which require research and crafted writing to provide unique examples of how I would approach different scenarios for that specific company, taking anything from 30 minutes to over an hour to complete. This is all in addition to completely refilling out my entire resume's worth of information for each company's proprietary job application form [why even ask to include a resume to begin with, if I have to add it all again later?]. This means I've spent nearly 100 hours, when I can spare the time over the past two months, hopefully applying to anything I can find that fits my skills. And what do I get for all that effort? I've had 3 people actually respond: 1 who declined after they decided to…
Resistance is Futile
Quietly quit Rage apply Work chaotic Quit with no notice Sign no papers Refuse arbitration agreements Formalize any complaint with the Gov Put everything in writing Fight unemployment denials Sue on a diime Assume you are targeted Claim it's a protected reason Audit your time sheets Ignore communication outside of work, claim you never received Act your wage Refuse apps without a salary range, and tell them why Hurt them until DTRT becomes HR best practice. Your employer is not your friend, not even your frenemy. They are a stone cold killer at your door that wants your soul, and you to die broke if it benefits them. It's time to treat them like it. This is Generation X warning Y and Z that the game is rigged. Let's. GO!
Hey ya'll – after being ghosted countless times throughout my career, I decided to create https://www.gotghosted.fyi/ a space where we can all post which companies that have ghosted us. It absolutely sucks spending countless hours during grueling interviews to not even get ANY response back. I'd love any feedback on this initial release. I'll actively try to incorporate any ideas ya'll have on how I can make this more useful for us all in the future. If you have any other types of suggestions, please email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Looking forward to connecting with more of you!
I left a massive international retail chain because despite being everything they wanted, they would NOT pay me fairly. I quit and joined a nonprofit that matched my ideals of being community-driven and youth-focused. First summer with them I was paid well and earned a sizable bonus. Since then, I took multiple pay cuts. They made me take on more and more work and I have raised their profits. My value is unmatched. We’re understaffed. I can’t call out. They’re cutting my pay yet again even though my experience and value is at an all time high. They’d collapse without me. I don’t want to leave because it would hurt the kids. I’ve put it out there with management that I deserve a higher wage. One dollar above minimum wage is not fair. Being paid less with more experience is no fair. I am the definition of going above and…
be better, dear kroger managers
Today I am going to an interview and I would drive a forklift in this job because it's a warehouse position in a home supply market. Importing stuff from trucks to warehouse but I don't want to drive a forklift I am afraid to and the job shift is from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m
I was demoted due to infidelity
I work at a Cadillac dealership in Utah and I've made my way up the ladder to the Finance office (F&I manager, business manager, whatever you call that position) and I loved it! I was in that position for 2 months when my General Manager pulled me aside and told me that the owner of the dealership was moving someone from one of his other stores into my position so he can learn how to do it temporarily but I'd still be doing it part time. I asked what I did wrong for those to happen and he said nothing, I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing and learning quicker than he had expected me to! He said they just had to get this guy out of the other store because he and another salesperson got into a fight. That's the only explanation I got on…
Two years yet first evaluation
TLDR: plant manager tried to redo my evaluation my supervisor did for me and proceeded to try and dock me for things out of my control and not in my job description. All of corporate America needs to hear this…evaluations are for evaluating employees at their respective positions not making up some bullshit to not pay them well. I’ve worked for a company for just shy of two years. Yesterday I received my first evaluation. I currently am in what many would call a middle management position. Yes my position is not necessarily needed. When I started this job, I started at the bottom and have quickly worked my way up. In less than a year I built a night shift team that outran day shift by over 100% production and quality wise. I was then moved to weekends to cover for someone on maternity leave and their performance increased…
