I work for a small company. Owner (my boss), me, and warehouse guy. I wear most of the hats for the operations of the company. Owner has some small tasks and goes on vacation 20+ times a year. I could easily do all of the owner's tasks as my own. I've worked here for 7 years and the owner has always given me generous raises – typically around 10%. I've worked my salary up to around $85,000. This last December, boss called me in – said money is tight and gave me a $5000 raise from $80k to $85k. My raise didn't cover inflation.
