All this company did was preach how much of a family they are. You know the drill. It was pure bullshit. Two weeks before she was diagnosed with cancer they had a mandatory company wide meeting where they threaten to pull anyone off the scheduled if they didn’t attend. The entire meeting was two hours of them bragging about how much money they made the previous year (33 million). I can’t work anymore because her immune system is compromised. She needs daily shots, i had to take a classes in the hospital to learn how to administer them. Central line that has to be flushed daily another class I had to take. Along with all the other medicine I have to give her while we are in between chemo treatment. Not to mention the out patient appointments, blood transfusions. So I can’t just leave her with any babysitter. I haven’t…
boss says everyone is struggling
I've kept my manager updated on how anti LQBTQIA+ legislation is being prioritized and that I'm likely to move. I keep her updated as I'm middle management in a good-sized company with offices in several states and several countries and have laid the groundwork to keep my job or some other position. When I gave a recent update on how the situation is progressing. When I most recently updated her that I'm now house shopping elsewhere, her response was, “Yeah, everyone is struggling.” Honestly, is that lack of compassion supposed to motivate me?
The world we live in
We are all participating in a society that was created and designed for us. The society we live in is clearly not healthy for our mind body or souls but we all do our best to follow the rules and enjoy it the best we can. The economy and the way it was designed enslaved the human race and created a slave driven society. It did not have to be like this. The lifestyles we have been conditioned to live are dangerous to our longevity and potentially destroying the possibility of our future. I tend to think it was intentional and it was a carefully executed plan designed by the people that control the worlds finances. As technology evolves they continue to show their selfish ways as they mistreat and dispose of humans like garbage. Nobody should be homeless or starve or go without, but they allow it to remind…
I keep getting clickbait articles about how great the 4-day work week is. I doubt this will ever take off in the US, but maybe management at small companies could be convinced. Anyone succeed in this yet? EDIT: I was thinking about 4x8hrs. I see some of you have done 4×10. I feel like I have had previous managers that would have gone for that, but I hate being in the office for 8 hours much less 10 straight.
For context, I work as a janitor for a medium to large sized company that's highly regarded as one of the best places to work in its industry. A few thousand employees in one place, so I always have a lot of ground to cover. Every single day, I start cleaning in the admin office. I see mostly people ages 30-50 years old, sitting on their asses talking nonstop, sending emails to each other, scheduling appointments, taking a few phone calls here and there, etc. Mostly bullshit clerical office work. These people make 60-100k+ a year, for doing little to nothing. They had a note on their whiteboard in the main area that read “Have a meeting to come up with ideas to have more meetings”. Hour lunches, immediate PTO, etc etc. Then, I walk to the distribution center and begin there. I see people busting their asses, sweating, swearing,…
My boss just farted in my face so I quit
I quit on the spot. He walked up to me as I was sitting down and ripped a wet one right in my face I owned him by quitting on the spot.
Full disclosure: I am a manager, but am sympathetic to the cause. I was reading through the comments on the post about text/call for calling out, and I came across a comment saying something to the effect of “it is never your (employee’s) responsibility to find a replacement.” Maybe it’s because I grew up with the policy in place, and now am required to uphold that policy, but I’m not sure I understand (even though I agree.) Respectfully, WHY is it not the employee’s responsibility? Sure, it makes sense for salaried positions, but my job is all shift work. Even I (as management on shift work) am required to find a sub if I’m sick or want off. Plus, we operate with only “critical operations staffing” each day (aka if one shift isn’t filled we are understaffed.) The lines I’ve been handed when I’ve asked are all about teaching personal…
Insurance scam
I’ve been paying into my company’s insurance plan since October of this year. Just found out today that they haven’t been paying my premiums for my policy that covers me and my wife. So anyone hiring welders in Ohio? I gotta get out of this shit hole.
Cockroach Economics- money funnels upward and the roaches fight over whats left. I don’t think trickle down economics was ever legitimately a thing. Just another move in 4D chess where the lobbyists make all the moves. Help me out, I know some of you can do better.
So, one of my aunts works at a hotel cleaning, they are told not to go over 40 hours but when there is a lot of work they let them, but only pay them 40 for that week and the rest are paid the following week at the same hourly rate, that way they aren’t paying overtime even though they are working it. Is this legal? Apparently they have been doing this for a long time and she just now told me. Is this a legal loophole so that they dont have to pay their employees what they are owed? The business is family owned and she thinks it is legal because it is somewhat of a small business.
