Monday and Friday are usually VERY busy workdays in most industries. But once you have a 4 day work week, you can easily ask to have it monday or friday.
I'm watching a documentary where the corporation a former worker eas suing wanted to subpoena someone's therapy notes in order to attack the character of the plaintiff. Someone I know had this happen to them after a hospitsl stay where the company fudged the numbers on the termination date and was being sued. I believe it's a common ploy.
For the last few years I have been struggling as an independent contractor doing Lyft and Doordash (and sometimes donating plasma) while I search for “the right fit” job. For context, my standards for “the right fit” include the following: A full time job that pays at least $15 an hour and offers full benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k). After about 3 years of searching, it seems like this is an unreasonable requirement among most employers. I have come across many “promising” jobs, that offer some of what I want- such as pay- but no benefits, or the job is seasonal, or the job is a temp job, or it's one of those part time jobs that will give you 40 hours but still classify you as part time and not give you benefits. My boss is a toxic person, talks down, gaslighting, accusing.l, takes his moods out on others. In the 2 years with the company my mental health has taken a nosedive particularly since Christmas.Ive been offered a new job but it's taking time to process, where do I stand on taking my last couple of months potentially on sick due to the above. Does it affect references etc.

I was offered a lead analyst job at a place I worked at for a dozen years but had left a year earlier. Week 1 boss is friendly and positive. I’m expected to hit the ground running because of my years of service. Okey dokey. One week later they announce the department is reorganized. I’m no longer the lead, now just one of 9. Ice storm hits and our power is out for 30 hours, I call my boss and take unpaid PTO for 1 day. Weekly Teams meetings with video I notice that I other people have their cats with them. Former departments also encouraged this. So I let my cat in for a meeting. I worked for this company for 17 years. I used to be full time operations manager until I had a child. When I had a child I relinquished my responsibilities as manager in order to work part time. My employer made me part time assistant manager, with a decent wage. I took the offer. Fast forward 7months and my employer has notified me that my current work arrangement ‘isn’t working for the company’ and that ‘in her opinion 7 months is long enough to adjust to motherhood and it’s time to come back to work.’ She proposed 4 options to me: two of which involve working full time again, which I do not have childcare so they are out of the questions.
