Small biz in California, been working there 5 years. I’ve been getting .25 cent raises about twice a year, starting wage was 14, then she hired everyone at 15 starting 2020. Recently she randomly put everyone on 17. Im super excited because i didn’t have to have a meeting, but really questioning her as a boss because EVERYONE from our manager to 6month part timer is now being paid 17 an hour. Besides asking for general opinions about this sort of thing, I’d like to know if there’s anything I could do bring up this situation to bosslady.

What do you guys think? One of the last jobs I was at my manager would ask the majority of us, “Are you coming back tomorrow?” almost everyday because people quit all the time. I came to the HR office to get my check after working my first 2 weeks there and the HR representative slowly handed me my check and asked,”You're not gonna leave are you?” I just took my check and walked out. I can't blame the employees for quitting. The HR department would just lie about the job description making it seem like it was an entry level IT position and all you ended up doing all day was plugging in computers and network booting them to run automated software test for $15hr all day so they ended up with hardcore computer geeks doing basic task with no room for promotion and they would eventually quit within…

Everybody seemed nice but my coworker that does the same job as me was super stressed out. I got flooded with reminders/tracked deadlines. Also found out nobody really takes a lunch they just eat at their desks. I’m in a small office with no windows, required to do at least 6 billable hours in an 8 hour day. And to be frank I don’t think the stress is worth it. I feel if I stay for fear of not finding something else I’ll really come to regret it down the line. I’ve had the lyrics “I was looking for a job, then I found a job, heaven knows I’m miserable now” stuck in my head all day.

Done with the 11 hour days. Nobody will really be there to pick up my work, guess they can get fucked?

So I've been unemployed for like 6 months. And I've been applying and interviewing like crazy. I got rejected from what was basically my dream job today in a big city with a decent salary and good benefits. I'm honestly crushed, it was between me and one other person. It was a highly competitive process, too. Luckily (kind of) I have a fallback job offer that I've already “accepted” with a state agency (I work in the environmental field). Honestly the job is fine and I'm grateful to have it to fall back on but, I'm disappointed not only because it's not the job I wanted, but it's in a very suburban area.
