Employer Requiring 45 day notice
Hey my friend is a 1099 and his new agreement has this language: “Completion. This agreement is at will and does not require a contract expiration date. A minimum period of notice of forty-five (45) days is requested in the event that Subcontractor intends to no longer provide services to COMPANY. COMPANY is a small organization, as much notification of the intended termination of services is requested to allow for appropriate transition” Does this language legally require him to provide a 45 day notice or is it suggestive because of the use of “is requested”?
I work in social work. My position was described to me as “WFH because it is a mobile position” and also because there was essentially “not a space” for me. I have been dealing with some mental health issues and a family death. We have personal days and self-care days. I have used them each time I have called in. I believe we have a total of 13 available to us annually, combined, and I have used 10 or 11 since starting in December. About 6 or 7 of those days I was sick and the rest were used for “self-care”. I was told and made to sign a paper that I: – need to have a more “determined” schedule instead of clocking in/out at different times of day/evening. Although I have seen multiple other people “flex” their time. – am not allowed to WFH “for now” because it is…
So my job has offered me a manager position but only for Saturdays. Our Saturday managers schedule is shifting so he chose me to be the new manager for Saturdays only. The rest of the week I will have my normal role. I work for a smaller company (Graphic Designer is my position) so I’m going to take up the offer because it will eventually lead to a bigger role in the near future. Currently I am making 19 an hour. I ideally want to ask for 23 an hour and then wait till July for my yearly review and ask for 25 an hour. How should I initiate the conversation and what should I say?
40k to be a project manager

I work for a big corporation, one of the biggest and richest in the world. In 2021, we expanded operations in my area to a couple of new markets and onboarded half a dozen people as contractors with promises to convert them to full-time employees sometime down the line. I thought it was going to be like 6 months down the line, and so did the people I hired; then it got pushed back to a year, then “end of q1 2023,” and now I just found out that it's not even going to be discussed until 2024. I feel like I've been asked to lie to people. I'm full time and have a good salary and benefits, and I told them, when I hired them, that they could expect the same at some point. Now I'm stringing them along like a bad boyfriend, and while I know they're not…
I know a lot of us are frustrated and feel hopeless about our current living and working situations. Capitalism is crushing us. But without a doubt, we have power in numbers and solidarity. This is why they fight to divide us, misinform us, and make sure we're too tired and complacent. When I read posts from 12 years ago of people suffering from the same things, or decades before, I become so frustrated and start to think “there's no way”. I am wrong. You are wrong. This is exactly what they want. A nation that quits on themselves and slaves away for them. Even with our protests, they have much more capital to put laws into place by the time we say any small fruits of our efforts. We need to strike at large. I think with enough people, a 3 day or 5 day strike would be effective. It's…
