Not trying to start an abortion debate but…

Forgive me if this question was already asked in this sub as i am fairly new here…BUT…why are a handful of big billion dollar companies more willing to pay for a woman to travel and get an aborshawn, but are stingy as fuck when it comes to maternity leave? Is it because they care more about the woman working asap and would rather have that than to pay for her to miss work and take care of her baby for a little bit? (which honestly maternity leave should NOT only be 2 fucking weeks but i digress) Again, I’m not trying to turn this into an abortion debate. Pro choice? Pro life? Idgaf. I’m just really curious of what y’all think bc I could be wrong.

And entire house for probably $1500

House from 1916 Sears catalog. For the price listed, they would send you pretty much everything you needed to build the home. I used to live in one of these from 1918. Many of these are still standing solid today. With inflation, it would put this house at like $40-45k. I am in the building design and construction industry, and you couldn't build this house today for less than $350k (probably a lot more depending on location). Average annual wage for one person in 1916 was about $990. Granted, you have significantly better windows, insulation, and MEP systems, etc. today, but even factoring that in it is still not even close. And that doesn't even consider the average annual salary. https://preview.redd.it/p882mmhh32ma1.jpg?width=875&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=8f550aa06119ab0ce82b4f097c3cb46e4bbba5da

No more PTO

I am a teacher. We get 10 PTO days a year—8 sick days and 2 “personal business” which you first have to have approved by an administrator (it’s my personal business?) to use. In January, I got COVID from a student who tested positive and we had been in close contact while I helped her answer some questions on an assignment. For other unrelated health reasons, I only had 4 PTO days left. However, I am mandated to quarantine for 5 days before returning to work. They charged me for the 5th day as a “no pay” day and even though it’s annoying because I got COVID at work, I went on my way. This week I received an email saying that if I now am sick again or want a day off, HR must approve it first.
