Im 28 F. I’ve worked in a warehouse for a cabinet manufacturing company for a little over 2 years, and worked there previously 2 years also. The job has always been some what stressful, but since new management took over about 6 months ago it’s all been downhill. Employee morale is nonexistent. Everyone is stressed and tired and overworked and they do not care. It all started 2 weeks before Christmas when they fired 30 people. Which meant basically we were working nervously all day waiting for them to fire people in our department. Honestly I’d consider myself lucky had I been one of those few. They did it again (20 or so) a couple months later. Everyone has been on edge. As you would expect, existing employees were expected to compensate for the lack of employees. My job, personally, was pulling doors for production. Then I was also pulling…
Antiwork in the 1970s!
My old boss died
I worked for him years ago at his sandwich shop. Racist. Misogynistic. Alcoholic. Cheap. What an asshole. Weirdly, I kinda feel bad for him. As unhappy as we all were when we worked there, everyone moved on to better things. Meanwhile, he was sort of trapped there in a little hell of his own design – yelling at everyone all day that they were making the sandwiches wrong and that’s why he could only ever break even. Never mind that the sandwiches, even when perfectly made, were mediocre. Poor bastard screamed and drank himself to a heart attack in his early fifties. I always thought I would dance on his grave, but it’s just sad in retrospect. RIP you miserable piece of shit.
How is it possible to find a job
still no Christmas bonus
That's it, that's the post. We haven't gotten our Christmas bonuses yet. They keep promising to give it out soon, saying there might be extra with it. But so far literally $0.
You can't just learn a few things and have a comfortable position for at least a few years. You MUST grind your butt off or you will fall behind. Did you just graduate from college and feel like you've got it? Wrong. You need to know this, and this, and this to apply for a junior position. Are you already in a junior position? Good, now take that course and go to that conference, because after all, you can NEVER stop learning. Want to relax after work? Well, you do you, but if I were you I would invest that time and learn a new coding language. Just in case. If you're not moving forward, you're moving backward! And guess what, there's a surprise! Introducing: AI!!! Now your work can be automated, so we can lay off ¾ of the team you can be more productive. We'll pay you the…
Union vs Non Union
I wanted to ask if anyone has had an experience with going union at their dialysis center. I’m located in so cal and would like to get some perspective on some pros/cons on possibly going union. I’ve been doing some research myself and find myself in a loop of unanswered questions, as the representative of the union states “All your questions can be answered once you negotiate a contract”. I’m a patient care technician over 5+yrs if that matters any. I’m just a little lost lol. Thank you
