First time posting here and looking for some advice! I’ve been working for a cannabis distribution company in California as a driver close to 5 years and for the past month I haven’t been going to work since I started a new job in sales with a more promising future. I’ve been prolonging my leave from my previous company since I don’t really know how to follow up with the GM about my leave and he’s usually not there, and I don’t really want to go about using the 2-week notice method. I have close to 192 hours of vacation and sick time accrued throughout the years I worked there, and I’ve been told that I’m able to cash out any unused time once I’m not working for the company. Any suggestions as to how should I reach out to my manager if either email, text or showing up to…
Look while employed
Pretty simple concept. Don't fuck up like me and quit. I was trying to find a replacement job from the one that was hiring people at a higher rate thane and then making me train them with no discussion of a raise. Working and interviewing can be difficult and after a year of trying to squeeze in interviews or work last minute phone interviews was just exhausting. I put in my two weeks and thought it would make things easier. Wrong, first question is why did you leave? No matter the quality answer given I've been shut out. My advice, fuck your old job, but use them until you have something better. I had sick time and should have just called out to make it to interviews.
Long story short the market is bad, we all know that. What can we do to stand out and get a wfh job, any advice is welcome. Applied to 100+ so many denials.
Due to extreme workload at work – (project manager with over 40+ projects) I called the Help Line to set up 'coaching' for stress. I completed the coaching and it was pretty much BS but the counselor was great and it did help me. My wife and I are now signed up for couples coaching – kind of just for fun but also to work out some issues – nothing serious. Doing the 'intake assessment' for couples coaching, the site asks a series of questions. I thought this sub would appreciate the absolute ass-backwards approach these corporate 'mental health' companies take. The questions go like this: “How much has your mental or physical health prevented you from performing your job?” answer choices are 'A Lot', 'Somewhat', 'Not At All' – along those lines – you get the idea. I am just flabbergasted by this: Dude, it's my JOB that is…
