Wage theft, Doordash style
I'm a Doordash driver. Doordash calls us “Dashers.” Earlier today I was working and got sent a batch of three orders at the same time, from the same merchant, Rite Aid. The orders were people's prescription drugs. The first order was 7 miles from the merchant. The second order was 10 miles from the merchant. The third order was 11 miles away from the merchant. The first order must travel a minimum distance of 7 miles, the second requires a min distance of 10 miles, the third order, 11 miles. In total, this is 28 miles. This batch of 3 orders was presented to me as $22.00 to drive 11 miles and deliver all 3 orders. Not 28 miles, but rather 11 miles. If these 3 orders were not batched orders, they would be sent to 3 different drivers, one order for each driver, the first driver would be paid…

Burned out, venting
This is a long one…According to my therapist, I’m experiencing burnout. Where do I start? I had my evaluation in the beginning of the year. No raise. The same company who temporally cut everyone’s pay during COVID because I’m in industry that was really affected by the pandemic. The little pay that I make, eventually came back. I got one piddly raise last year in the 4 years I’ve been there. That’s it. I have some health issues going on and the health insurance my employer offers is garbage. I pay a lot for it and they cover hardly anything. More bills on my pathetic salary. All the “benefits” my employer offer is 10 vacation days and expensive, crappy health insurance. That’s it. I’m salary and my boss has been yelling at me for taking longer than a 30 minute break and very adamant that I work 40 hours a…
Hello ! I work as a graphic designer for a small business. Most of my work consists of filling the same templates for different customers. Recently, I have been getting tasks that will contribute to the eventual automation of my biggest work load ( like exporting work I have done in a different format for their new software) Since I am a freelancer, this represents a huge loss of money. How do I politely tell them that asking me to help them with the process of losing my hours feels like a bit cheap ? English is not my first language *
Hey everyone, I need some advice for the rut that I've been in for, well, I guess since I've ever been working. I'm 22 years old and I have never held a job for more than a year. I've either had to quit because the company is falling apart or they were unwilling to work with my college schedule. I always thought I was doing the right thing, but I don't know what I could've done differently. I started college when I was in high school, and finished college last July at age 21. Because I was in college during COVID and everything was online, I was unable to participate in any internships, and were almost always unpaid which was not financially feasible for me. After graduating I moved out of state and have not been able to find a job in my field at all. For about a month…
