This post Unfortunate : antiwork (reddit.com) reminded me of when I was campaigning for Andrew Yang (wanted a UBI of $1,000 a month for people age 18-65. “How will we pay for it?” people asked. A fair question. the answer: “Partially with a swap out of multiple strings-attached welfare programs. It'll help a lot of people, such as those on disability who are too afraid to volunteer at a soup kitchen because if they are caught holding a ladle, they'll go to jail for fraud.” I'd let that sink in before deciding if this would be a real conversation, or if that question, how are we going to pay for it, is just a thought-terminating cliche or not.

I don't normally quit a job without another job lined up, but I this job got too crazy too fast. I got what seemed like a chill job at a vape shop. The hours were long (10+) but it seemed like a good fit for the moment. We sell CBD and Delta as well as vape products. Its more of a head shop and vape store. Tldr: 6% raise from a promotion and great annual review after 8 years of loyalty… I joined this company straight out of college as a junior analyst and after 1.5 years, transitioned to a more financial role. I was already making garbage pay and though the new position was technically a mid level role, there was no pay increase. Fast forward 8 years and some change, the company has gone through many changes for the better and my pay went up over time incrementally around the 5% to 8% mark here and there but with the work experience, no where near the average for the area. Redditors help needed Hello fellow redditors. I’m reaching out for help from the community. We are in a small city of Windsor Ontario and work for a very greedy company and can use all the help we can get. The situation is Windsor Salt employees are currently on strike because of contract negotiations. They are people that live and work in this city and the company has put them on the street. There have been picketers everyday for the past two weeks but we need to get as much help from the public as we can. We are currently trying to boycott all of there products and spread news of what they are planning on doing. Was given assurances during my interview that I was to be in a litigation department. The first day was great, but today they decided to uproot me from litigation and put me as a person who calls insurance companies for claim or adjuster info. I had not even performed one task in litigation, since I was still in training. My boss was confused at the change but could do nothing to stop it. Tried talking to HR and telling them the assurances I was given, but no luck. So, up in hearing the news, I immediately got up, and left. Emailed a letter of resignation and that was it. I just feel really pissed because I was so excited to get started and learn.
