PTSD from previous job?
Is this possible? My last work place was completely toxic. I was afraid to take sick days, ask for vacation time off, the slightest mistake would warrent an hour long meeting with threats of write ups but no follow through, was terrified to share my opinion and express my thoughts on how we could do things more efficiently because I was constantly talked down to and just ostracized because of my nationality. I now work at a different place with a boss who puts health over work and promotes positive work life balance. I made my first mistake after a year of working there and when she asked about it I felt like I was back at my previous employment. My heart started racing and I started shaking. I felt like I was falling and I had such a visceral reaction to this tiny misstep that I feel like my…
I love my job but it’s tough and you’re so disposable if things go wrong
I(16f) had to quit my job because of some health issues. My manager was such an asshole as well and he caused me so much anxiety and self doubt. Well after I quit someone else quit as well and one retired. They got someone else in there for 2 days and they quit and now it's just mh manager and one other guy. If my manager wasn't such an asshole I would have tried to stick it out longer but he treated me like shit and now has to suffer the consequences
Last night while on break a guy ad a heart attack and seizure i was the only one there so I had to deal with it the best I could as well as ring 999 and luckily someone else came out. And I’ve just found out my work wants that guy to start work again tonight. Wtf is that the guy is not fit to start working again considering this is the second time in 2 years this has happened to him at work
my poor pathetic work overlords
We were told the end of last month with a close bimonthly payroll cycle and a payday on the 28th, they had to estimate our hours on Friday last week to do payroll on time. Just like always, it's wrong. The last time, HR ignored the hours that I reported my boss and I was underpaid. This time, to avoid that they paid us all for our expected shift on Friday and would correct the following payroll. Sounds legal right sounds legal, right? It would be but they didn't adjust overtime for the midweek payroll cut off, and carry over overtime for people who work weekends in the same declared work week. So now, we are all underpaid in violation of wage law, and have to ask for our money, because our poor HR team doesn't want to get up early enough or stay late enough to get payroll done…
Corporate talk: CxO Euphemisms
Trying something different. Below are some “gems” from CEO/CFOs. Has anyone collected similar statements of these people speaking in tounge at your workplace? “Better-than-expected efficiencies in operations infrastructure costs and generally all of our fixed costs.” Translation: ruthless negotiations & cheap labor “We're seeing a lot of our growth area being fueled by headcount that's moving within the company.” Translation: layoffs “Our targeted growth reduction opportunities have helped us deliver this quarter's results.” Translation: more layoffs, “making people available to industry”
Short Job Not Paying Me
I was interested in a job and got hired on the spot. I came in the next day, worked the 6 hour shift, and decided it wasn’t for me. My paperwork was on the table inside, but I didn’t fill it out since I wasn’t going to continue with the job. Manager said no problem and to text her the next day to get paid for the night. Next day I texted the manager and she said, “the owner said it must go through payroll and come by check. He told me he emailed it to you. Let me know if you’ve gotten it.” This was 4 weeks ago. I sent a follow up message last week asking if I could come up to the business and get paid cash, which I got no response. A few days later I told them I would have to claim unpaid wages through…
I worked remotely in 2 states for a company based in a different state. I moved halfway through the year and made sure HR had my address changed. My paystubs and W2 reflect this change. I was laid off in the first week of January. When I filed for unemployment in my current state I was denied because they said my former employer was not reporting earnings there. Now I have again been denied in the previous state because of similar problems. Is it the employer’s responsibility to report earnings to the proper states? I haven’t gotten any money from unemployment and obviously I have had no income in almost 2 months. I’m not sure if I should contact HR again. They denied seeing a problem on their end the last time I contacted them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4_RIu_SjEg Poor guy on the stand, really. He lost his best friend and wife in two horrifically different ways. But I was really struck by how little $40k is. This guy was willing to murder over it. But he was also part of the system, the politicians who play by different rules than us and expect to be protected by their money. He was just small-time enough to actually get justice. How many people have done worse for way more than $40k? This is what the system does to us. If you're not greedy above all else, you won't survive. I even feel bad for the murderer's family. They seemed like good people.
