Do y’all know any good songs about how work is a soul-sucking nightmare?

Everything from the status of unemployment (i.e. jobless and seeking a new job), with the clock ticking on your ability to make rent and pay the bills and survive, the recruitment process and all its bullshit, CVs that will please the AI, cover letters that show off how enthusiastic and passionate and eager you are for this specific job at this specific place, the start at the new workplace, the time you spend getting used to it, the anxieties associated with moving if you've gone to work in a new town, let alone a new country, the difficulties of having any time or energy saved for the family, friends, loved ones, the unpaid overtime and expected wage theft, the weeks and the months and the years burning away into hours that someone else decides how they're spent, the expectations of loyalty that aren't reciprocated, the anxiety of exerting your rights…

50% salary decrease…

My new job just cut my salary by $30k, only a couple months into the job. I was making $65k and now I’m making $35k LOL. They tried to gaslight me into thinking I wasn’t experienced enough for the role but that’s BS because I was making $60k in a comparable role before taking on this job. I took this because it’s better hours than my old job but should’ve known it was too good to be true. I feel taken advantage of and like they gave me a fake offer for them to then switch it up this soon after starting I signed the new contract at the $35k salary because I don’t want to be unemployed but this isn’t enough to live on. I have student loans. I live in a not cheap city and am now paying 80%+ of my paycheck on rent and utilities. Do y’all…

Took the plunge and told my boss how burnt out and overworked I am

Took my boss aside and told them how stressed out I feel. That tasks are piling up and I have no idea how to manage them all. I was met with two quotes that cut me to the bone: why are you so thin skinned? Toughen up! And my new favorite: you have no idea what real stress really is. I dream of Microsoft Teams notifications and yelling over the phone. It's like the company just wants to watch me burn out. I would not be the first. Obviously I'm applying elsewhere, but so far no luck. I had sincerely hoped for some understanding or at least advice, but now I'm disillusioned and stretched too thin.

Can a job make someone do certain work way outside of a job description?

My girlfriend works as a sales associate for a small local business, and they recently started having done renovations. They’ve asked her to come in for $12 an hour to paint the walls, clean the rafters, and help with some construction jobs. She feels like the work she’s been doing is outside her scope, and only me and a couple of her friends seem to think that sounds kind of unethical to do to employees. Any advice for her?

Freedom is when you do decades of forced work

Our whole life revolves around a corporation. We are literally fully time servants. I have to do chores required to survive on Sunday. That gives me one day of rest per week. I make decent money, when can I even spend it? I have four days a month to do what I want. Menial servant work that drives you insane, until you are a year away from death. That is life under capitalism. This is absolutely a form of slavery. Why does no one care? How does the average person cope?

Taking breaks at my workplace is the worst

We have no break room , when we do want to take our breaks we have to use the consultation room (it’s a pharmacy) to then be kicked out when the pharmacist needs a patient in there . When I’m kicked out I have to either sit in the back stock room on a broken bucket where there’s no signal available on my phone. So I’m basically sat there for 30mins with nothing to do. Oh and don’t forget the toilet is also located in the stock room and since it’s such a tiny room I have to keep getting up to move out of the way so my co worker can get in. Or , sit on a bench at the front of the pharmacy where I’m given cold stares from patients and questions like ‘ shouldn’t you be working ?’ which I doubt are even jokes are brought…
