What do you guys do for work? What country or state do you live in? How many hours do you work a week?
You guys have heard of unions right?
Unionization can combat every post in here. Can't be simpler. Don't need to win an election or anything.
Former asst. manager here
I just wanted to make a post about how some asst managers arent complete scum lol. I was an asst at a retail store then a fast food place. We also get treated like shit by the higher ups & the actual manager. As someone in management i fully expected to help with covering shifts, etc.. but when they started making me work 18hr shifts, then open the next day ALONE (cuz everyone called off) i put my foot down. Ive had people tell me it's my fault for going into management & that they werent being unreasonable working me as a slave. I guess that might be my fault.. so I vowed to never take a management position again. The actual store manager at my fast food job would NEVER cover shifts if an employee called off or come in early to help me when no one showed up…
Who here has more than 1 job?
Currently on 2. 4 and a half hours and 2 hours respectively. My main job refused to give me more hours so had to look for another one.
From Rest Of World: “In a series of recently viral livestreams on Indonesian TikTok, the premise is always the same: Women in their 50s and 60s sit in a stagnant pool of water and mud, often shivering. The women’s clothes are soaked to the skin, and they periodically throw a pail of water over themselves, looking directly at the camera. At times, they wipe away tears, appearing distressed… The viral phenomenon known as mandi lumpur, or 'mud baths,' gained notoriety in January when several livestreams were posted from Setanggor village, on the island of Lombok… Rest of World spoke to community leaders in Indonesia who were horrified by the trend, but felt powerless to stop villagers’ participation in these sorts of accounts — especially if the videos paid better than backbreaking work in the fields.”
Tittle sums it up. I’m part of lower level management. Had a management meeting cuz the current sales floor isn’t hitting their goals or putting effort in. The head honcho said…all of your pay checks are staying the same (cuz management is hitting their goals and numbers), but my pay check is going down(cuz overall company isn’t hitting their goals). Am I wrong for thinking that’s his problem and not mine? Very few people are making more profit for the the company and/or staying the same, including me. Should I tell him; well maybe you aren’t cut out for owning your company if you can’t take the loss. If someone can’t take the wins and losses in owning a company…they shouldn’t own a company in the first place?
Also tell them that they smell. One of the few opportunities you can do it, so you should do it. https://preview.redd.it/nz9lp430nska1.png?width=2876&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=74b535ee8fae6c92ff88dabac77d7ba3c0ff7a90
I realize this is the anti-work subreddit, so delete if not allowed, but I figure the best place to find ways to be a better boss is by asking the people that have been treated poorly by bosses/employers. I possibly have an interview for a big promotion. The manager leaving said I should expect a round of interview questions, but this boss also tends to talk out of two sides of her mouth and is definitely one of the worst managers I have ever had. That said, it's her job I might be taking, as she plans to retire soon. I've been a manager before, but it was some time ago, and this would be overseeing a much larger team with multiple departments. I've always been pretty laid back, fully letting my staff control their employees and manage their priorities as they saw fit – unless I genuinely needed to…
