Labor Law in Guatemala was established in the 50s. Salaried employees get a 13th salary, equal to the ones received every other month, and employers often pay it no later than December 15th. (Although the law says they can pay 1 half in december, and another no later than January 15th). Our economy hasn't collapsed. This was stablished in 1954. In the 90's, congress approved of the 14th Bonus, to be paid in July. Guatemalan workers, contracted by law, have two bonuses each year equal to a full monthly payment. Each year around july/december we have a barrage of sales and advertising from companies, the economy is based around it. Everyone budgets it in advance, so we use it for down payments on cars, travel, an extra mortgage payment, christmas gifts, college tuition, clothes, to pay off debt or to save. Good labor laws exist, a revolution is needed for…
Maybe this is the wrong forum, but I feel like you fine folks can help. Yesterday I sent an email to one of our very remote locations with a large attachment. I mentioned in the email that bandwidth at that location may prevent the attachment from going through. My boss was cc on the email, which is very common due to the team nature of the work we do. This morning he sent me an email asking if I had followed up, pointing out all of the VERY OBVIOUS reasons I should. If the email doesn't go through, they won't know to tell you…. Blah blah. He really is a great guy, and he means really well, but his micromanagy approach to every little detail can be infuriating. We've talked to him about it, and he really does make an effort, but he is having a very hard time fighting…
My manager asked me to ask something to another manager. He was in a meeting so i told him i could talk to him later. He told me he would be in a meeting all day so it was okay. I ask him my question to which he answered he didnt know anything about it. I then went back to my manager who told me to go ask him again because i made a mistake in my request. I went back and he erupted in rage, he yelled at me in front of everyone, he was really angry to the point of shaking. I was totally shocked by his reaction but succeed to stay still. I just left by saying thank you. I spoke about this to my manager, she told me just would be thinking about this. I don’t want it to stay like it. Who can i speak…
I worked in retail, selling cell phones. My bosses boss threatened to make us pay out of our wages for items we didn't steal or know anything about (cell phones and such) — I decided to report them to Department of Labor for Wage Theft. I sure as shit didn't steal anything and I'm not their personal loss prevention team…(we don't even have loss prevention – our boss just spies on us all day on the cameras in the store and calls our store to cry when we sit around) Today…yet another threat from management about taking our wages for items “lost” or “stolen” from our store. So Today, I blew up all of internal chat we should report wage theft with links and everything. I rage quit on the spot and told management to literally “get fucked”. My immediate boss decided to be a bootlicker scum fuck and tell…
I'm a pole vault coach for a local high school and the head coach is asking me to bring my high end video camera to record some practice today. Part of the problem is that this also means he will expect me to edit and upload the video as well, on my own time. How do I respond to not sound like a complete asshole. However, I do understand that I am being taken advantage of. Here are a few points to keep in mind: – I get paid very little for the year. Less than $5k – This happened last year and I did roughly $10k – $15k worth of FREE work. Everything from logo design, video shooting/editing, social media, graphic design, and a 30 minute year end video that took 40-50hrs of time invested. – Unpaid, I also invested 80+ hrs over 40+ practices over the summer and…
Guilt trap
I hate my coworker
She is very stupid. The only good thing about her is face and her body. She makes my shifts so much harder. Manager doesn’t care.
Change to PTO policy
My works PTO policy was that you can cash out unused PTO, but you have to retain 40 hours in the bank. As of 1/1, they’ve changed the policy to limit PTO buys to 100 hours/year. Their reasoning “we want people to spend more time with their family” I explained to the boss who covers the payroll people that even I can either take time off or cash out and have money to buy things, but not both and the whole concept was lost on him.
