My boss said we are not allowed to get sick for the rest of November/December because it’s a busy period. That’s right not “allowed”. I felt really shaky unwell and it was really hard to even get out of bed but I felt like they would not have accepted a phone call and made me come in. So I went into work so they could see that I’m sick, they just told me to eat something and work the whole day regardless. I went to get food and threw it up straight away. I called them up again to let them know. Next minute 3 missed calls from my boss and a threatening text about how I’ve left work without notifying and I have a “duty of commitment to work today”. Other people were sick during the week and got time off but I feel like I’m going to have…
Toxic Work Commentary
You'll notice a few obvious conservative links. One such example, the 'Jesse Helms Center Foundation' is particularly interesting considering that man was one of the biggest sacks of shit to ever become a politician. “On domestic social issues, Helms opposed civil rights, disability rights, environmentalism, feminism, gay rights, affirmative action, access to abortions, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), and the National Endowment for the Arts. Helms brought an “aggressiveness” to his conservatism, as in his rhetoric against homosexuality.” If they are willing to openly admit partnerships with businesses/foundations/organizations that have these type of values, they have absolutely zero right to claim to be nonpartisan. They are conservative pieces of shit trying to block aid to help those in need. Period. Health insurance after quitting?
If I have health insurance through my job, how do i get new health insurance after i quit said job?
Boss has started saying that I am responsible for finding my own work. I work for a large government contractor, so it’s not like it’s commission based. My boss is supposed to find work for me to do. Boss has also started implying that my position is at stake if I can’t find more work. Boss has implied that I’m a space-cadet dumbass who probably will drive anyone willing to give me work away because of said dumbass-ness. Additionally, boss has straight up told a coworker of mine that everybody hates them and that they are the laziest of all the employees, which just isn’t true. I have some higher ups who care about what happens to me, but I just don’t see anything happening to my boss. At this point I’m looking to work in a different group because I cannot stand being in this group any longer. The…
The conversation was about how companies will only hire people who attend certain schools and how I found that unfair. I got my bachelors in cybersecurity at a small school but the program I attended is known in the industry. I applied for one position, went through 3 interviews and got rejected which stung. I then found out they only hire people from big name schools, so I felt as if I was led on by the company too. I attend an online grad school program for digital forensics at a small college. It’s not generally known but the program im in is known among digital forensics professionals. My family member went on how I should’ve gone to this other known school for a different program in tech, but it would not prepare me for what I wanted to do. The conversation got heated and I bursted into tears. I’m…
I started a new position and have a 60 day probationary period. In my contract it states that I can be let go at the direction of my employer at any time with no notice during that period. It does not reference the same for that of me (the employee). Two clauses down, it states that I need to give 2 weeks notice if I plan to leave. Added to this, I work in WA state which is at-will employment, however my contract does not state this. Soooo… Do I need to give 3 week notice during a probation period? Is my position still at will even though my contract doesn’t explicitly state that given WA is at will? Money is great, I’m not cut out for the job, and plan to go back to school and live paycheck to paycheck again. Sigh.
He's only 24, there's absolutely no help out there for grieving parents. We're in Canada, each province has a different set of rules for bereavement leave. Most are unpaid; if it is paid its only up to 2 days. Maximum amount of time off I've seen is 7 days unpaid, only there to “secure your job”. Where I am its 3 days unpaid leave. How are you supposed to deal with one of the most traumatic horrific situations that could happen to a young couple, plan a funeral and go back to work? All in less then a weeks time. It's beyond fucked up. He works on the rigs, having someone out of their mind grieving could be a life and death situation on that job not to mention many others. We're all just fucking cogs in the machine. I'm sad, but I'm also really fucking angry.
