A disgruntled ex-coworker sent a screenshot of a mean text I sent to them about my boss. I’ve only ever been polite and respectful to my boss. The text I sent was supposed to be private and the ex-coworker sent it to my boss without my knowledge or permission. My boss fired me immediately without conversation about it. There was context to that situation for sure but…thoughts?
Feel Like I’m Losing my Mind
I've had a rough few years in terms of jobs, I left an awful one last year only to wind up somewhere worse. I quit that job and then struggled to find a new one for 6 months. Finally found something new and it's not the dream but it's better overall than my past two jobs. I started about 2 months ago and then 2 weeks ago they fired my counterpart. We both do similar admin type work and he created a bunch of great new systems that made us more efficient. I didn't have visibility on his day to day and when management told me they let him go they said it was due to repeated errors that they'd given him time to improve on. Now I find myself being a complete nervous wreck, from all I could see this guy seemed competent in a job where we are…
So, I work for a tech company as an independent contractor. Even though I'm a contractor I'm expected to act like an employee but I don't get any benefits. This has been bothering me for a while. Even as a barista I had access to health insurance, 401k, stocks, and many other benefits. Sure, the pay wasn't great but with the amount of money I have to take out of my paycheck for taxes, it's really not too far off from what I was making. I'm expected to work X amount of hours a day but they haven't been assigning me enough work lately so I'm just like….🤷 Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do? Also, if you have any advice in general I'd appreciate it. I should also mention that my mental health is in the shitter right now. I'm feeling very depressed. The fact that…
Boatloads of Debt
Anyone else absolutely drowning in debt? I have a Bachelor’s Degree and what I thought would be a comfortable white collar job. Instead I have thousands of dollars in debt and don’t make enough to put gas in my car. That’s not a metaphor btw I’m on 1/4 of a tank. Fingers crossed for this Biden-Harris education payments refund. That would be a tremendous help, but the poverty wages are a knife in my heart.
I use the bus to get everywhere, I don't own or want to own a car. The bus usually runs until 10:30 pm, I usually get out of work at 10 and it takes me 10 minutes to walk to the bus stop, so I'm usually fine. Last Sunday, possibly due to the holiday, the bus was running early, and the last one would be running at 10 pm, so I informed my shift lead and my coworker that I would be leaving early. Come today, I'm called into the office and the manager does the usual shit, asking me why I took off early, asking me to sign a write-up. It took all of my strength not to tell them to fuck off and walk out the door. I'm literally getting fucking writeups for being dependent on public infrastructure because I'm poor, which considering they only pay 17 an…
[Question] desk requirements
I’m going to make this as short as possible… I work at an Amazon warehouse and recently they have taken away our chairs at our desks. Now we have to stand for our entire 10 hour shift at a desk and our back/feet are all starting to ache and it’s taking a toll on my coworkers as they don’t want us to have any padding either (standing on concrete). Is there any osha laws or anything that could help us get our chairs back? I know it may sound silly but doing this for 40+ hours a week is growing exhausting
Hello fellow anti-work friends, just coming to here to ask… is this illegal? I know it's bullshit, but is it illegal? I am (as of today) working as a server at a restaurant in Phoenix, AZ. They made me sign paperwork which stated that I am agreeing to being charged $0.25 an hour, per hour, every hour that I work for miscellaneous food (soups) and beverage (soda, coffee). No if's and's, or but's. Basically I'm being paid 25 cents less an hour due to this. The other thing that caught me off guard is that I will be charged 3% of every credit or debit card purchase made through myself, and that will be paid to the company. Again, I know this is bullshit, but is it illegal?
