What are some ways you try and beat the system at your job? For reference I work sales at a gym. Here are some of my ways. I'm scheduled 9 hours a day with one hour lunch but I never take it and always leave early. I take breaks including using the bathroom whenever necessary. Sometimes if I can I'll workout before my shift and finish my workout even if I'm a little late to prioritize my health and well being. I'll sometimes read when it's slow during the day and I've done all my work. Maybe listen to a podcast or music while sending emails. My sales numbers have been great and consistent with my bosses constantly telling higher ups how amazing I am so I've definitely got job security at the moment. What else can I do? I’m curious what qualities you do enjoy that your boss, team lead, or any superior around you possesses? I know this is anti work, but if any of you can think of anything positive to say about your superiors I’d love to hear that.

Lately I have been very uncertain of myself and my future, especially relating to work. I have a lot of conflicting thoughts when it comes to the issue and i'm at a point where i feel like my life is starting to idle due to it. Before going into my reasons for why I have been struggling to get back into working, my main conflict with those reasons is that I want to be able to do things for the people I love. I want to be able to buy/rent a place for my partner and I to live, I want to be able to afford nice trips with them and my family to places they have always wanted to go, I want to buy them nice dinners and wonderful gifts, and overall I want to have the financial security to be able to help/support the people around me should…

Started at a new job less than two months ago. Since then, my manager will consistently change or delete my work after I submit it for final Q and A. She will then accuse me of not doing it properly. When reviewing the version history of the excel file, it’ll show HER name as the one who deleted or altered my work. When I confronted her on this several times, she makes up some silly excuse that is illogical. One ex: in December, I submitted 717 complete excel rows for final Q and A. I made a copy of my work as well. The next morning, my manager told me I had to start over bc the first 212 rows I had submitted were blank. Most of the posts I see here regarding automation are focused on people losing their jobs. I get the economic pain that comes from that, however, I'd we truly want to live in a post-work world automation is a required component. We have to separate automation for capitalist gain from automation for freedom from work. There are necessary jobs in society that are unavoidable, such as harvesting crops. If we truly want to eliminate work, beyond just the capitalist wage slave model, we've got to look at how we can implement automation for the good of society.

Coffee shop job for college time. I told them I’m available mondays,Thursdays,fridays, saturdays. They wanted someone part time so I would work 5 hour shifts usually sometimes a bit more. My college is in a quarter system. So my schedule changed and I noticed my work that this would change I told them a few months in advance. They told me due to there being less customers and other people working the days. I want to- I can only take the 4am-10am shifts but I told them I will have classes. They stopped giving me shifts. Sometimes I would get a 2.5 hour shift or called the day of to cover someone. It’s been like 2 months since I worked what do I do? Am I dismissed?

I currently work a hybrid work schedule; 2 days WFH, 3 days in office. Tomorrow, I’m supposed to go into the office, but I got an email from my landlord that they need someone to be at the house for a repair. I sent an email to my management asking to work from home, explaining why, no response. After work, I texted my management to again ask to WFH. Got a call from one that I cannot WFH since I’m scheduled to be on site, but that I can login tomorrow from my home computer and send an email to ask for a last minute day off. I literally just need to be home to let someone in, maybe 5 minutes from my desk. But no, I have to take a day off. I hate it here lmao. If the benefits weren’t so amazing, I would be gone.
