More wasting taxpayers' money
Without fail the following occurs almost every time: Presenter says something like, “alright… let’s give everyone a few more minutes to join…” or “who else are we waiting on? Is so and so still on vacation?” Followed by the initial small talk that I find goddamn insufferable. Shit like, “we are getting lots of snow in our state!” or “it’s been raining a lot here” or “is anyone traveling for the holidays?” If there’s a screen share involved the following is inevitable: “can everyone see my screen?” Or “can everyone hear me?” Once again, I’m grateful af for the ability to work remotely, but this shit is feeling so mundane at this point and I don’t think there is any end in sight.
I only lasted 2 months in that position and it was a nightmare the entire time. My boss was texting me 24/7 about issues at the shelter that I had absolutely zero control over and “venting” to me about other employees aka talking shit. Every week someone was changing their schedule, couldn't work certain days anymore etc, or texting me to complain about someone not doing their job correctly. I'm not a career person. When I get off of work I want to go home and not have to think about it until the next day that I'm scheduled. The last thing that I want is to be getting texts about an issue that I can't fix while I'm trying to relax. I will take less pay if it means having better mental health, I don't care anymore.
New welding job, review is to take place after your 90 days, it’s now day 159. I was told on my 90 days to “give it 2 weeks” fast forward I’m in a new position, double the work for the same pay (the review would bump my pay up based on skills in both areas). Running my own bay in the new department, training new people, & obligated to stay 9 hours minimum when every other department in the plant gets out after 8 hours. Given my final notice on January 3rd by my old supervisor(?) for taking too many days off last year (even though time doesn’t roll over so it’s use it or lose it). Was never given a verbal / written / or even talked to about it before that. The money is good & it’s close to home, plus I love the people I work with.…
I work(ed) in the billing dept of one the the largest retail chains in the United States and they amass a workforce of 2.2 million people. Today, I came to a new realization and it is the title of the post. After getting paid and giving my own employers money back to them via groceries, I have simply had enough. After almost a year, I am done billing people for my companies screw ups. Done with a system “mysteriously” charging people with ghost orders from both peoples debit cards and Foodstamps. My company may as well be subsidized by the US govt through public benefits alone. They fuck the poor over with their “always low prices” It's sick. And I'm done. 15$/hr isn't worth it. The wfh is nice but I can barley pay my bills as is. Much less move ahead in life. I don't know what is ahead…
