I work for an organization that sometimes gets government funding to run different programs. My program received government funding for the first time this year. Status reports aren’t technically due until Spring 2023 but there’s a cabinet shuffle happening right now and I was asked today to submit a status report…today. I told my boss that it wasn’t feasible and for an extension for the end of the week. They didn’t even bother asking for an extension for me they just got mad and said that if I didn’t do it today I’d be risking the program’s funding. As I said, this is the first time I’ve ever dealt with government funding and I’m not sure how realistic the assertion that asking for a couple days to submit an impromptu report would result in losing funding/not receiving further funding. I’m curious if anyone has experience with this and can tell…
Leaving a note on the back counter for everyone to see. She guilts and shames me for taking a day off to take care of my house and kids, yet leaves 4hrs into her shift (that she shows up 3 mins late to). She tells everybody else on days that I’m useless anyway.
Leaving my super toxic job
Leaving my super toxic job and can’t wait to tell the manager to go fuck herself 🙂 will be working as a direct support staff with a blind woman as a companion/staff member and it’s super rewarding and I’m so excited. Idk how I survived in this coffee shop for so long with a manager who speaks to me like dirt and doesn’t know how to manage/schedule. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders
The title says it all…I’m holding out on quitting my job until after the holidays are over and I receive my bonus. No other job lined up; I’m going to be a SAHM so timing is fairly flexible. How to not make it super obvious that I was waiting until after the holidays?! Also, should I give notice the day I come back after the holidays or give it a week or two?
In short, I tried to diffuse a situation and was shushed by him. I asked him not to shush me. (I posted this previously in case anyone remembers the other post) Today, my boss and I talked for 40 minutes. He brought out random things about him feeling I was distracted and that I look like I don’t want to be here. He told me that he thought it had to do with what happened. He said “I googled it on the internet to see if shushing is so rude.” He proceeded to tell me he shushes everyone- his wife, kids, etc. I told him it was an uncomfortable situation because he was angry and I wanted to diffuse. And I also felt insulted to be shushed. He told me “I shouldn’t be angry, but you shouldn’t talk back to me” my reply was “maybe I shouldn’t, but I don’t…
Getting fired soon.
Without going into too much, detail I defended someone I care about at work. She’s being bullied by a co-worker while the boss looks the other way. I accused my boss of nepotism because the bully often house sits for her and has said around the place that she has management in her back pocket. This bully took a stress leave months longer than sick leave would allow and now gloats that she was paid for it and the boss said to just forget about it. Now that I raised questions I’m being investigated. The boss told someone other than me that she’s building a file on me. She’s now told someone that I’m harassing the bully. That I’m making other people uncomfortable. (which I think has more to do with talking about a strike). She also claims that I’m circulating the snapshot of the text between us. I only…
So at my company, profit has decreased because of 2 things minly, though it is not clear to what proportion each contributed: 1) our customers were hit by lockdowns 2) people were working less while working from home Now that we are back in the office, apparently “productivity” (however the management defines it) has taken a FURTHER hit. They are trying to solve this by being petty, and don't seem to realize that any potential loss of productivity, or much of it, is due to many people really liking WFH for it's MUCH better work/life balance, and this now being taken away, so they are depressed. I am not a manager. Have not run any business. But I would probably try and test a hybrid model. Like, give people 1 or 2 days a week to WFH. Maybe it works maybe it does not. But our management has…
And I do mean all of them. If every single railroad worker in the country stayed home for say…two weeks, what leverage would the companies and the government have left? It's illegal for teachers in Ohio to strike but they did it anyway. Several years ago. Every single teacher went on strike in the entire state. No one was fired. No one was arrested. No one was fined. The railroad workers have a nuclear option available to them. They just need to take it. Fuck the economy. Let the cargo on those trains rot. I'd like to see those railroad executives try to train all the replacements needed to keep those trains moving.
Activity and work tracking?
Anyone know exactly what data companies who use productivity “monitoring” software have? Is it keystrokes? I assume yours logged on and off? Curious if there’s anyone in IT or management who knows.
I don’t know if this is the right sub for this. Without giving too many details and going into an entirely too long story, my team members – a group of talented individuals and myself, a very productive happy self sufficient group, got unexpectedly thrown into an absolutely awful management situation due to a manager quitting unexpectedly where we don’t get enough support or attention to hit our goals successfully. Now, I am taking over the team as the new manager and it’s my job to clean up the mess that the other managers created. My teammates are feeling abandoned, unmotivated, unsupported, and don’t feel they have a voice. If you were in this situation, or if you ARE in this situation, and you had a new manager that wanted to make it right. What would you say to them? What do you feel you would need from them? Also,…
