I don't usually post here but today kind of had me thinking about how blue collar labor here in America is really fucked right now, at least where I am. I hope this isn't too wordy but if it is oh well, half story and the other half is a thought piece I guess. I work in an industrial plant, we create forklift counterweights out of hot iron (iron so hot jt can literally melt your skin off to the bone no joke) Currently I am in an area where the forklift piece is knocked out of its mold, it's my job to pick up the hot iron slag, plastic and sand and such and dispose of it in a timely manner using various tools such as a sledgehammer iron rake and good ol elbow grease which there is a lot of because it's hot as fuck. My co worker…
My employer knows full well my area needs two people to stay on time and for a year and a half me and another dude bossed it with no issues. Finished on time every day. Now I still get someone but only an hour and half later than I told what time they need to send someone. But… that means I finish an hour late… and I’m allowed to arrive 30 mins late. Now I’m raking in the overtime (just less than 1k a month) and just like ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I’m only human and can only work so fast. Its not my fault if I finish late
Crazy we still even need to say this
Wow, this is just ridiculous.
I've gotten a new job. It's a good job, requires a two step interview process, overall 3 months of background checks before hire, several private investigators are assigned to do a more thorough background check. My main PI called all of my previous employers to ask why I left. He called me back to confront me with the information given by them ro see if I agreed/disagreed with their statement. So he called me yesterday to do this (mind you, I've already been hired and am on day 4 of month long training). A daycare I worked at for four months starting in the beginning of 2022 was the only one with negative commentary. They informed my PI that I was on a “no rehire list” because I'd threatened to “call state to get them in trouble”. First of all, this simply isn't true. I never threatened anyone with anything.…
I'm on a new job. I asked where to send my automatic deposit form for my paycheck. The lead told me recruiter should have handled that. I emailed the recruiter and recruiter sent that info request to lead's boss. Lead is now mad I went over their head because recruiter turns out to be the lead's bosses boss and lead says it makes her look bad, like lead doesn't know how to do lead's job. I have to keep this steppingstone job 3 months to get my big boy dream job, but lead comes to my desk daily, takes my mouse and checks my email. p.s. lead is gross I spray my mouse down with disinfectant when they leave. How do I get the lead to stop?
