TL;DR- Toxic workplace, coworkers dropping like flies, unfair compensation, overloaded with work, control freak boss etc. Advice? Tips? Comments? I have been at my current workplace for almost a year now, and I knew within a couple of weeks after getting hired that this was not going to be sustainable for me. But more than that I knew I wouldn't be happy here. I don't mind “working” or whatever. I just want to do something that means something to me and be happy. Lately I have been applying for other things that would at least be (hopefully) less stressful and pay me better, but I am stuck where I am for the time being. The way things are right now, I shouldn't quit until I have another steady stream of income lined up. But things are getting worse. We are consistently given unrealistic deadlines, and then scolded when we don't…
I work for a massive company that is planning significant layoffs. I don’t know what to do. I have a team of people who have families and kids who will be negatively impacted. Idk if I’ll have a job after this but I’ll figure it out. We’re supposed to find out next week what the restructure will look like. Does anyone have any advice?
Rage Applying Rant
I heard this term “rage applying” the other day for when you are angry and fed up with your workplace you just apply to a bunch of different places out of rage… Idk why we need a new term, I thought this was just something we've been doing. You don't like where you are you find something else… Well I got a raise recently and it's the most $ I've ever made, but that doesn't matter when my hours are cut in half… prices on the rise and my savings account is depleted. I'm looking for another job and apply to places daily, but last time it took me 4 months to find another part-time position. I'm just fed up. I feel like I can't quit my current job yet because I don't have anything lined up and if I don't have a paycheck for 2 weeks I will literally…
Im the bad guy?
Ok, usually i work as electrician or it guy but the project finished so im as security right now in a hostal. So long story short, i refused to do the receptionist job at night without extra pay. They said i already charge more than my coworkers, etc. So there's indignation from them saying i should do it without answering anything else than “yes”. I just answered you pay me to do 1 job and just that, u want me to do the job of the receptionist who just left then pay me more because im already putting my fiscal integrity at risk that's what u pay me to do. So im wondering, im the bad guy?
Quitting over potential return to office
I was hired in the fall for a hybrid position (2 days a week in office), and am just now hearing that I may be required 4-5 days in now. I wouldn’t have accepted the position if I had known they would do this. If i were to quit in response, would I be eligible for unemployment?
I was fired today because yesterday I finally decided to stand up for myself. A coworker of mine has had problems with multiple employees (getting three of them fired by constantly complaining about them to management). She acts like she is a manager and tells people what to do when she has the same position as everyone else. Since I started she has targeted me trying to get management to fire me. She brags to other coworkers about how she has the head of the company wrapped around her finger and she could get me fired in a second. Well yesterday she destroyed a display that I made because she thought it was “ugly” and when I tried to stand up for myself she ran to our manager complaining about me. I walked in when I overheard her talking about me and attempted to explain myself (understandably I was a…
Like being told “you should have done this!” Or “why did you do it that way?” when you’re just trying to do your best? Get a job in insurance. (Or sales in retail. Bc I dealt with this kind of BS there too.) Am am a customer service rep. Not sales. But for some reason it is my job this month, on top of the 50 thousand other things on my list, to call hundreds of clients to set up appointments with my sales reps so they can write more policies and get more commission. So I call all these people, get them set up with our reps. Then I have to remember to send them all reminders for their appointments. If I am only able to leave a voicemail, I am to send them a text too. And what portion will I get of the sales made from these…
