I just joined this company and the code base is all legacy code written in java and doesn't have proper architecture in many places. In discussions, I myself have suggested improvements and refactoring in the code. In the first few tasks, they were only about fixing a specific issue. But during the code review, my coworker keeps adding comments about “improvements” which are about rewriting the whole file or in other parts of the code which I didn't work on, while the change was only in some lines that fixed the issue. I have talked about this with the team and with him that I have been asked to merge this soon as per the requirement. I don't find it good to do everything in one pr which was focused on one issue. It creates confusion and could break other things. not to mention, it takes more time than was…
As the title said. I'm on my way to reach my saving goal, which is having 3-6 months worth of income in my emergency fund. Before I reach this goal, I can't afford to quit my job. Who's in a similar situation? Please share with me your coping mechanism!

I gained extensive working experience before graduating plus tried-and-tested skills in the industry – apparently these recruiters don't even bother reading through the resume. Heck, some don't even put in the effort to conduct themselves remotely professionally during the interview or can't write up a grammatically decent email. They automatically assume someone being a fresh graduate this gives them…

Networking at work
So tonight, about 20 minutes before my shift was supposed to end, i had an opportunity to make $250. I work on trailer chassis on a railyard and my company only works on certain types of trailers. Well tonight we had a different type of trailer roll through, and i told him that he needed to call his dispatch to get someone to work on it because my company doesn’t do those. Guy calls his dispatch and hands me the phone and I explained to his dispatch the same thing i told him and they said, “ it’s just an air leak, if i pay you $250 to fix it can you do it?”. Of course i took him on his offer and knocked out a simple 3 min fix. Guy paid me and driver was on his way. I still have his phone number so im thinking what if…
