Basically the title. I’ve interviewed for several positions with the job title I just got offered, and at the other organizations this would be employee work. Which is why I was so taken aback when I saw “independent contractor” on my job offer, especially when the fact that I would be a contractor was not mentioned in the interview. The job is paid set hourly by the organization I would work for, I would always be providing services within the facility, and it’s shift work. I also believe there would be specific instructions for how to perform my job duties by the employer. I have also spent time researching my state labor laws and… yeah I’m very confident they’re misclassifying me. So now the hurdle is trying to figure out how to broach this subject in a way that doesn’t result in retaliation. Any tips on how to discuss/negotiate this…
So basically I went in for an interview with this company. The interview with the hiring manager went great and I was recommended by his assistant to apply so that helped as well. Got a call two days later (Friday) that I got the job but they had to create a position for payroll for it so they would call me next week for when I needed to go do my drug test. Got a call on Tuesday that “even though the hiring manager was head over heels to hire me, someone else in the company applied after they offered me the job so they HAVE to give it to that person”. Look I’m all for giving opportunities within the company (I prefer it actually) but how about don’t offer a job to someone to just turn around and pull this crap. I’m just thankful I didn’t put my two…
Hello, any of you who started work and were faced with overbearing/controlling/rude colleagues, managers, supervisors etc., what were some one-liners that you used to shut them up and earn their respect? I'll start: Well, I'm not a magician, am I? – in response to constant nagging as to why something hasn't been done, when theres other things to do I'm here to learn/work, not to be harrassed. – in response to a rude coworker saying how stupid it is to do things in a certain way Well, this was very unprofessional of you (followed by a long stare at them). – in response to something rude being said
Corporate greed? Shitty, incompetent managers unable to allocate their resources properly? This has been a common pattern amongst every job I have held. Has it been like this for you? Or am I just unlucky when it comes to jobs.
Sorry for the rant in advance! I am a training supervisor at a healthcare call center (we have 50+ locations) and we have been trying to hire more call center representatives for months. Our indeed listing does not list the rate of pay but new hires start at $17/hr (We are in NY). People have been applying, interviewing, finding out the pay…then either not accepting our job offers or just simply not answering lol. My supervisor kept saying “People are ridiculous.. nobody wants to work… yada yada” until we all spoke up. We all asked her “Have you seen the average hourly rate for CSRs in this area? It's starting at $21/hr…” She didn't believe us and blew us off for months. We've told her this several times now. It wasn't until someone who had interviewed declined her offer and actually expressed that to her. She very shortly after went…
Tomorrow is going to be lit
Earlier in the year there was an opening for the team lead position. With the support of the team, I applied for it. I was denied even interviewing for it, and not even by the manager, she sent someone else to do it with the excuse that I did not have any project management certification, which wasn’t even in the job description. They hired an idiot that doesn’t have that either. Now mind you, I have a masters degree in my field (IT). The idiot hired has a psychology associates and 1/3 of my work experience. You would imagine that he would understand how empathy works, but he doesn’t. He is dismissive of EVERYTHING I say. I have to teach him things 5 times, and every single time I have to explain why it works this way. It is exhausting cause I don’t work for Microsoft and I have no…
Inflation caused by corporate profits
Absolutely disgusting Bigger corporate profits account for *over half* of the higher prices people are paying. pic.twitter.com/RZr5O0X4oJ— Rep. Katie Porter (@RepKatiePorter) October 18, 2022
