Self check out is a ploy. Reduce the number of cashiers so there's longer lines while offering self check out. It's not automation like some people claim. It's offloading the work of a cashier onto the customers. Next they'll be trying to get you to stock the shelves too! But this has lead to an uptick in theft. Because unpaid workers have no incentive to do their jobs well and scan every item. 🙂 What are they going to do? Fire you? Hire employees to watch you? Which would completely defeat the purpose of self check outs. So the CEO has threatened to close stores. https://www.businessinsider.com/walmart-ceo-stores-will-close-if-theft-at-retailer-doesnt-decline-2022-12 Let's think about this for a moment. Unpaid employees aren't doing their jobs correctly. So, instead of PAYING people, this company, which made 146 BILLION dollars this year, is threatening to close stores. Which, first of all, is complete bull shit. This is such…
And get this, I fucking work at a hospital. Upon returning to work while still suffering from symptoms and the aftermath of my medical issue that got me in the hospital ICU in the first place, my supervisor emailed me and said “I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. Unfortunately doctors notes are irrelevant and you will still be written up for these sick days. I hope you are feeling better!” I hate it here. I hate living in America. And I hate working in healthcare where they do not give a single shit about me because every single one of us busting our asses to take care of patients while we have terrible patient/nurse ratios is replaceable . I hate it here. I wish I didn’t have to work a job that cares nothing about me to barely make ends meet. So frustrated.
Power of strikes
Sorry for the rant guys, but it's depressing to see ALL the problems being mentioned here and there, and nothing happening to adress them: Thousands and thousands of threads about how the billionaires are slowly destroying the lives of everyone (which is not far from the truth honestly), millions of viewers enraged against the system, tons of people who finally understand that we're slaves, and that we had no chance to begin with…but no one wants to do anything because we don't want to lose the little comfort that we have. I'm no exception, I'm part of the problem. This place merely serves as an outlet, a place for us to vomit the agony that we go through every week, and that lets us discuss things with kindred spirits. However, that's all that it is: an outlet, nothing else. No one wants to fight, no one wants to organize anything,…
Should I call in sick?
Hi Making a long story short; I canceled my job and my official last day is 30st of january. I had quit it because it’s mimum wage, fcked up conditions and the management is treating us like crap. There are so many thing I can write down here how the fucked me, and colleagues. But going so deep into it is not that necessary to make it clear. My bucket overflowed when I mentioned to use all my freedays and all hours that were overworked but they said I can’t use them. So, I worked for minimum wage, worked extra (not for payment but hours) and now I can’t use those hours and free days before I’m away. It’s possible to have a payment of those hours and freedays but it’s with 40% tax, which I don’t want!!! Ridiculous. Now my plan is to call in sick, and let them…
why can i never be right
i post in here a lot but i dont give context cus i forgot this is anon so here's a new one. i work at forever 21 and they just began a concert sweepstakes. it started 12/27 and ends 1/31. i know all this because we got an announcement on the 23rd with all the information. we got little cards with QR codes as bag stuffers and like any coupon promotion at any store, we are instructed per the paper work from corporate to hand them out to every customer. when i asked my manager for a run down, she told me to only give them to people who ask about the sweepstakes so for that whole day i asked people before the end of the transaction if they were interested. maybe gave out 10 codes in 7 hours. this week, specifically the 27th, i start handing them out. we…
I dispatch non-emergency medical rides. I got a call from a woman who was upset because one of her patients in this Nursing Facility (80-year-old man) with dialysis (if he does not have this treatment he will die) can no longer get his life saving treatment because he has COVID. He needs this treatment 3 times a week or he will die. He got his treatment today. One of their nurses scheduled him a trip knowing it was not okay, or unaware. And one of our dispatchers ignored the big red covid alert or didn't care and scheduled this man a ride to dialysis. We could not give him a ride back. I received a call from the nurse. Asking me to give him a ride back. That is how I found out about this situation. I immediately notice the big Red Alerts. I know I am not supposed to…
