Worked as a cashier at a counter service style restaurant for over a year. Got an interview for server at a “real” restaurant and ended up getting the job. Went thru a week of training smoothly, hardly any criticisms from trainers other than simply needing some more practice. After the week of training I was pulled aside by a manager who said he needed to talk to me. He then went on to scroll on his phone for around 30-45 seconds. After sitting in silence while he was on his phone, he told me the trainers didn’t think I was ready for the job. They knew I had only worked as counter service, and throughout training was never told anything drastic I needed to improve on. The manager didn’t give me any feedback on what I did wrong. they also won’t do this to our face, but over text: ridicule us, belittle our abilities, “make” us reply giving praise to employee of the month, passive-aggressive blame or ask questions with the intention to shame, and much more. i can’t get over that i don’t even make ten dollars an hour and have to deal with all that, i just wanna clock in, do my job, and clock out.

My fiancé was just in a car accident a few hours ago. She was on her way to work and her car was totaled. Luckily she seems to be okay (writing this in the ER right now just to be sure). She called her boss from the scene of the accident and the first words out of their mouth were “oh…so you’re not going to come in?” Fuck you

A multi-billion dollar company that rhymes with ‘hive station’ gave us socks as a year end gift. Are they nice socks? Sure. Do I need more socks? No. Not trying to sound ungrateful but considering the amount of money this monopoly makes, socks seems pretty silly to me. I mean they could have donated those socks to shelters or those in need. We work our tails off throughout the concert season- please don’t insult us by giving us socks! Donate that money towards a better cause.

I hate my job. I’m antisocial because I want to be the forgotten employee. I don’t want to make small talk and pretend to care about someone’s kids I just want to clock in, clock out then go home. Call me antisocial I don’t care, I just don’t want to force painful small talk with people 10-20 years older than me with bad coffee breath who only talk about the weather or football with such a depressing somber tone in their voices no matter what they talk about. I hate offices so much and I’m glad I only have to be there twice a week. This job aged me years in months it’s so fucking dull and I come in every time with a look of resentment on my face and pity for those trapped in this prison of a job, whose best years are far behind them, only promising…
