So I’m a college student and recently been working at my new job for a month now, I’ve been constantly put on the Saturday shift because of how much classes I had over the week and I absolutely hated it. Now that I’m on break I want to request a change in my schedule again to be weekdays only because I don’t like working on the weekend and I feel like my weekends getting taken away from me and i don’t like that. I’m just a bit worried that me constantly trying to arrange my schedule to fit the way it works best for me and so it can balance with my school schedule will get me fired.
I started this job in October with the expectation that it is a M-F job, 8 hours a week, with overtime occasionally sprinkled in, never expected or forced. This is according to my manager and interviewer. The past month and a half, I have been working 10+ hour shifts, 5 or 6 days a week, with no sign of it getting better. My mental health struggles, and my fiancé’s mental health also did too as I was never available. I no longer have time to get groceries, do laundry, any chores, or remotely enjoy myself and live life. I told HR I had thoughts of self harm because of the imbalance and all they did was give me a hotline instead of hear my grievances and adjust. I was told it’s better to make them fire me instead of quitting so I can file for unemployment. If I just work…
should i no show and quit my job?
hello! i decided last night that i needed a mental health day today, as i came home crying just from the thought of showing up to work the next day. i called my boss as early as i could to be respectful of their time in finding coverage. I used the excuse that a family emergency was happening that i needed to drive out of town for (just in case they try begging me to come in.) my boss simply says “well, it’s your shift so you need to come in!” I was baffled. i have been loyal to this job for half a year at only 19 years old, working underpaid and in horrible conditions, once even being forced to walk in -1 degree weather to work. my boss then asked if i had to miss the whole day, or if i could just come in late. I told…
Now we work more for less
So I arranged for a well known junk removal company to come take stuff we’ve just replaced. The website doesn’t actually list their prices but I figure, how bad can it be. Well, it can be over $400 to take away four items. Had I known that I wouldn’t have booked it. But now the nice young men who work there are standing in my house and I really want this shit gone. So I cancel my order with the company, but give these guys cash (less than quote) to take it. I find out that they make $200 a day normally so I’ve almost doubled their take home for today. Happy to pay them the cash since they are the ones doing the work. Merry Christmas y’all. EDIT: lol got a call from the company to confirm the cancellation, and they asked if I’d still want the service if…
