“good job buddy, you earned it”
at my new job, its a condition of employment to join the union. from what ive been told, the union doesnt do anything really for the employee. just makes sure you cant get fired for no reason.
Help (kinda long, sorry).
I obviously (I think so) cannot ask this to my manager, but I'm just wondering if I should still come to work or somehow come up with an excuse and it will be okay if I don't anymore? Or will they hold it against me or anything? For context, I work from home using company provided computer equipment and I have until the first week of January next year and that's it. For whatever reason, someone from the asset retrieval team contacted me today and told me they will collect the equipment and my company ID by tomorrow (I don't have a car that's why they are coming in but I will have to pay for it). I wasn't informed if I have to go back to our workplace for the remainder of my employment but since they're apparently retrieving everything, then I guess I have to? I have grown…
Fuck OT taxes.
Someone give a logical explanation as to why we have to pay so much taxes on hours worked over time which is my personal time. This makes me not even want to work OT anymore.
Fear of unknown
Has the uncertainty of what your next job may be just kept you stuck and miserable in a current job? I’m giving my months notice this week and have been applying for new jobs. While I don’t have a new job lined up yet this current one has me so miserable I was thinking about it even during time off at Christmas. I can survive a few months on savings if worst case scenario I don’t have a new one by the time I finish at this job.
How to forget about a toxic coworker
Not sure if this belongs here, if not I’m sorry. I am about to leave a job and I’ve been stuck working with this really nasty coworker. Don’t train, acts like she is better than you, quick to point out your mistakes, just a bully. Anyway I am starting a new job in 2 weeks. How do I just let it go and focus on my new job? She is starting to take up real estate in my mind(she kind has the last 4 months). Any tips or insights would be appreciated. Thank you
The only thing “free” about so-called free time is that it doesn’t cost the boss anything. Free time is mostly devoted to getting ready for work, going to work, returning from work, and recovering from work. Free time is a euphemism for the peculiar way labor as a factor of production not only transports itself at its own expense to and from the workplace but assumes primary responsibility for its own maintenance and repair. Bob Black, 1985.
