It’s 4am and after crying about it I’m considering not going back to work. Is that dumb?

For starters I’m a server at a chain restaurant and I work to survive. I have a little bit of money saved up for a car but I can manage with it even if I have no car until I get another job. I don’t want to consistently get disrespected over and over. I do have people contacting me for interviews but I don’t have another job yet. What should I do? I didn’t know what other sub to go to. I had a day off but in the morning I have to go back to work and I’m so tired of going there. I get taken advantage of constantly since April of this year. I’ve never done this and left a job out of nowhere idk what to do. The final straw was my last workday which was Monday(which also happened to be my first day back from being…

You’re still coming to work, right? We’re short staffed and really need you. Need I remind you that if you don’t come, it will be considered a no call no show?

Quitting over slippery floors the same as being upset at paper cuts from paper?

Hoping to find some advice, figured that here would possibly be better than r/jobs or r/careerguidance. For context, I (17F) work at my local Mcdonalds, and have done so since August this year. I recently slipped on the kitchen floors whilst taking out a bin bag and fractured my elbow (thankfully quite minor but i am off work for two weeks) and workers comp is paying for it all. I've been contemplating quitting due to it, and honestly I have wanted to quit since my first day. Most people who come in are nice but the odd few that aren't are just awful. Karen level awful. So is quitting over an injury caused by greasy floors (which I have had multiple issues with and have slipped many times before, just not fallen) a valid reason? Or is it the same as demanding blunt paper because you got a papercut? Editing…

Should I tell an employer about my ongoing medical condition?

Hi, this is a weird post. I am a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with r/thyroidcancer in June 2022 and had my surgery September 2022. I've been given conflicting advice. I have to see my doctor regularly following the surgery, because he needs to determine whether I need to follow up with iodine radiation therapy (different from chemo). I am working with a small business where I was hired on the spot, even though I wasn't sure if it was a good fit and was still browsing for jobs while other interviews were still in the air. I have an interview this Friday with another company. I feel like I should let my current employer and this other company I'm interviewing with know about my cancer history. I want them to know that my doctor is determining whether I need follow up treatment, which will result in me not being…

Play it again sports. No one wants to work anymore.

I am at the Play It Again Sports store and this college student is trying on ice skates and while doing so, asks for a job. The owner literally says they have openings but “no one wants to work any more and just wants to sit home and collect govt checks”. Hmmmmm ok- this kid just asked for a job. I said nothing, but laughed internally.

Billionaire creates stock shares in their own company, like printing a billion pokemon cards, claims to be the richest man on earth, then says he lost billions when people don’t want his shares anymore.

Yes, it's a bit more complicated than that but for the most part, they're not as rich as you'd think (and an even bigger, more arrogant prick than you think). The worst part is when the government steps in to “bail them out” of this fabricated loss, buys the shares at “full price” and sticks us with the bill (or prints the money to pay for said shares). They're all in a club and we ain't in it

Started working in an electronics store, got a taste of peak capitalism/consumerism

To start off, salary is commission based, meaning you get paid minimum wage + cut of your sales. The amount varies wildly, can be anything from 0% all the way to 10% of the product's cost. This also applies to services as well, such as extended warranty and insurance against damage. So you're heavily incentivized to suggest certain brands over others in addition to asking everyone if they want to pay extra for extended warranty… Every morning there's a meeting discussing sales targets… I didn't know there are people who are actually excited about hitting 106.2 percent of sales yesterday. This is followed by sales performance review of each employee – manager says Bob needs to sell more warranties, Jane needs to sell more chargers etc etc… The hours are insane. 8am to 9pm 2days/5days a week alternating. So you go home just to shower and sleep, then wake up…
