I’m resigning in the AM!
Thanks to a few of you wise Redditors, I looked for and found a new position with my current company’s competitor and will be tuning in my 2 week notice tomorrow. I’m going to tell them I’m taking time off to enjoy my granddaughter and may take my social security check since I just turned 62. In reality, on my final day of the two week notice, I fly to another city for three days of training. I’m taking the high road and not going to rant about the crazy stuff that some of the managers put us through. Any thing I should be aware of or prepare for when I resign? I haven’t quit a job in years!
The next wave of stuff for a new generation to grow up in will be intelligently interacting with information systems “engines”. You need to learn how to use search engines well, in addition to stuff like AI art and whatnot. This isn't something that I want to see happen for capitalist reasons. I am giving you a warning about time, if you're young. Why? Because AI-driven interfaces are coming up through stuff like OpenAI's chatbot. The actual use of AI-driven art won't be to replace artists for individual art pieces. No one will really care about that by the time it's done. Eventually, you'll be able to tell an AI interface a scene with actions between characters, and the thing will produce that scene. With enough tweaking, it can be pretty reliable for a specific purpose. That means that there will be specifically designed bots where the underlying “personality” of…
Few years back I was working in a sales position for a company that had a takeover and received a new management team. When the new management team came in they threw a Christmas party (hadn’t been one the year before). Management told sales team holiday party gifts were field people to not put our raffle tickets in any of the items we wanted just keep in our pocket……… k fine whatever. Then 3/4 of the way through the new ceo stands up gives a speech and promptly said “the sales team wants to personally commit to growing the business in the new year so that we will all earn more.” Then the fucker by name calls us each and ask us what our commitment to the field guys to get more sales. Mind you thick fucker had never meet with or talked with the sales team just the managers…
GloRilla assistant
Hearing the outrage on the GloRilla job posting made me think more about my situation. So I work for a known person in the entertainment industry and I’m getting paid below 350 doing part time as an independent contractor. This is my first industry job and I was excited for the opportunity as this person knows that I’m trying to get my foot in the door. But as months have gone by I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. I’ve been asked to contribute and write things that I will not be compensated for along with compliments. How long should I stick around as this person can help me get into the industry? I signed a contract.
Does paid leave mean im done?
I got in trouble today for taking too long of breaks. I was called into HR and some guy and one of my Union stewards were there. Apparently they investigated me between December 7-9th and found I was taking too long of breaks, and leaving the property without punching my badge or letting anyone know. From the sounds of it and what went down today it doesnt sound the best. Its my first time getting in trouble and we’re Unionized I just am scared too lose this job… Ive had alot going on lately. They ended the investigation thing because I got a little worked up with myself over it and I guess they want to finish it on another day. I am on paid leave until further notice… how screwed am I guys?
Record profit, same pay, more hours
I’ve worked on construction sites digging pits and getting muddy, I was a soldier filling sandbags with rocks only to empty them a week later, and I didn’t feel like a slave until I got a part time job in an electric supply warehouse. This company keeps boasting about having their most profitable year to-date, and they love to tell us about it every meeting. The bosses got a ski lodge to celebrate. The warehouse guys got more 12 hour nights. I realized this was exploitation. Late to the party, I know. Our hard work in this world is rewarded with more hard work and nothing is being done about it. The rich keep getting richer from the working man who does what he’s told to keep a roof over his head. When will this shit end?
Hard workers
Work hard!!! For 10.00 an hour! Pasadena,TX
I just got a 20 cent per hour raise after 7 years of no raise….have never had a bonus, Christmas bonus or otherwise. I do have a double degree in human services- I can’t specify- as it is extremely specific and would dox me. thanks for my extra $2 per day…..I can now afford to have a coffee again:) I suppose I should be grateful? With inflation over the last 7 years that’s like a few (+) grand less then when I started. I did the math a few years ago and it was devastating.. I don’t remember the numbers and I don’t want to look them up again cause I already struggle to not cry every pay day…. Social services fucking sucks across the industry, so if I move…I just get the same pay with less vacation. Any ideas about how to get out of the industry with no…
