A bummed end to a bummed year
Just wanted to let off my dissapointment really. I've been working at a place for over 2yrs under a temporary contract (which has affected my ability to get a mortgage but thats another story) and through these 2 years ive been dangled numerous carrots of permanent contracts that haven't materialised. I ended up applying for another position at the place i work and i was told by colleagues in higher positions that they thought i'd get the position, but i obviously just tried to ignore all of that and focus on my interview. It went well and i had a phone call a few hours after my interview that i missed due to being at work. From experience, i know they call the successful applicant and email the rest. I rang back but to no response, so waited until today (monday) for another call back. Today, i finally got the…
Hey Reddit, whatre some anti work hacks you’ve seen employees do at work. I’ll give an example of one I’ve seen. I worked at a company with an unlimited sick time policy. My coworker would always take advantage of it when she wanted a “free day” or got pissed off by the company.

I know I’m late to this but I just watched the video on YouTube where a news anchor drills one of the mods on here with questions. I was going to type out an entire refutation but figured I’d just focus on this one argument that these capitalist bootlickers make. “It’s not slavery, when you can just quit.” -Sure, it’s not in the sense where it’s blatant forced slavery. However, when you pay SLAVE wages you coerce these poor people to stay in these slave wage jobs, they work paycheck to paycheck and they CANNOT quit, why? Because how tf are they gonna pay rent/mortgage and put food on the table now? These people don’t make a decent wage so they’re forced to live in an endless chain of paycheck to paycheck, slave away for such shit wages that they literally cannot break the chain or else they’d be on…

This is my second job outside of University and it has been the worst experience I've had in terms of management. My “Career manager” has been awful, and I can't wait to leave this job. I took exactly one day of sick leave due to poor mental health. I reported this with discretion to HR when submitting my sick leave form and my manager basically interrogated me during my 6 month review about this. I felt this was really unnecessary and is simply not his business. I had a leg injury and was walking with a walking stick, my career manager saw me and said I was looking better. He remarked that “when I try to find you I look for the guy with the limp”. After taking 4 days of sick leave after being ill for 3 weeks, I was again interrogated and asked for justification of my annual…
