Hey everyone! New to the sub and just curious, as well as making conversation, does anyone have hobbies/passions/side hustles that they can and/or plan to turn into their main hustle? I LOVE writing, photography and just art in general! Have always been a creative one, ever since I was a child. Definitely a passion of mine but I only share my work with people I’m close with because well, I’m shy as hell honestly! Lol. I’ve also been learning how to day trade for the last 2 and half years I guess! Haha! Definitely nowhere near a pro or anything like that but the challenge has been fun, I’ve met a lot of great people and have learned a lot about myself along with way! Guess you could classify this as a side hustle, that I happen to enjoy enough to call a hobby. What are some of yours? Happy…
One of my co-workers was chewing nicotine gum, because she’s a former smoker, and my boss was telling me “it’s co-worker’s strike two because nicotine gum is a stimulant.” I was a little taken aback with her reaction to it since there are a lot of smokers in the restaurant industry and told her it shouldn’t be a big deal as long as she’s not chewing gum during service hours. Is my boss overreacting a little here or am I being too laidback?
Sigh of relief, sent my notice letter.
Thanks to this sub, I knew there had to be something better out there, and I knew what to do if I found it. 8 months of searching, attaching resumes, then filling in applications asking for the info on the resume, then writing CVs, then creating. Applied to about 27 positions. Got 6 interviews. Was ghosted on 4. The last one seemed similar, but they asked for a 2nd call. Then a 3rd. Then a 4th. Then finally made an offer. I countered. They accepted. Compared to my last career: ~20k a year pay increase, insurance costs halved, PTO more than doubled. It's out there people. It can be a grind. Be brave.

Do you know any worker co-operatives?
What are some popular ones?
A bummed end to a bummed year
Just wanted to let off my dissapointment really. I've been working at a place for over 2yrs under a temporary contract (which has affected my ability to get a mortgage but thats another story) and through these 2 years ive been dangled numerous carrots of permanent contracts that haven't materialised. I ended up applying for another position at the place i work and i was told by colleagues in higher positions that they thought i'd get the position, but i obviously just tried to ignore all of that and focus on my interview. It went well and i had a phone call a few hours after my interview that i missed due to being at work. From experience, i know they call the successful applicant and email the rest. I rang back but to no response, so waited until today (monday) for another call back. Today, i finally got the…
Hey Reddit, whatre some anti work hacks you’ve seen employees do at work. I’ll give an example of one I’ve seen. I worked at a company with an unlimited sick time policy. My coworker would always take advantage of it when she wanted a “free day” or got pissed off by the company.
