Well, I took those words to heart and ever since my company went remote to 4 days in office, I’ve applied to a ton of jobs and finally found one which is doubling my pay while working remote. Start tomorrow and now my former boss is being forced by the company to take over my role. Out-of-touch white collar business owners and CEOs are about to fuck around and find out that they will not attract/retain talent when they mandate office work.
I am 110% over the cost of living
A year ago I left a child development agency I had been with for 5 years after having a disrespectful meeting with the directors. It was a phone call and wrote down the shit they said I got a call yesterday from one of the directors asking me to come back. They can't find anyone permanent. They don't understand l why other professionals in the area don't like the people they hire. People in the community refuse to work with the new people and ask for me. I told them hell no. Below is some shit they said to me in the zoom meeting. “if someone is afraid to talk to staff, they need to think about whether they're in the right company.” I was never afraid to talk to anyone. Don't know why she thought I was. ” There are inconsistencies in your story, and it's a repeat issue”…
I don't live below the poverty line, but I am still very much poor, and with the mass inflation my country is going through, my family's money is worth even less. But there are some ignorant bastards at my school who see my lack of basic commodities as “yiur parents should've just went to uni and worked harder, instead of lounging around like the lazy pigs that they are.” I'm sorry mate, but my mum has a bachelors in history, and is paid less than £12 an hour for professional website design and copywriting, my dad has a masters in civil engineering, denied work because the university is in another country, and works as a manager for an international supermarket chain (minimum wage) and gets paid more in his second job as a pizza delivery driver. And yes, I am looking for a job (at 14), so I can save…
He's young, with a kid and needs money. So he works as a server and meat cutter at a restaurant. He was telling me last night that he's doing 15-hour days, he's being given split shifts where he starts in the morning, does serving to a certain point. Then he punches out and waits around for a few hours, helping out around the restaurant because his friends work there and then he punches back in for a back of house shift to finish off the night. He tells me on serving if anyone gets to the overtime mark they are immediately sent home, regardless of what their schedule looks like or how much work is needed. He's not getting paid for the few hours He's just meandering and helping out. He's forced into the split shift stuff because he can't get more hours up front without volunteering to split shift…
