Taxation in the USA
Just a friendly reminder that personal income-tax makes up roughly 50% of US tax revenue, with social security and Medicare taxes accounting for around another 40%. This means that the US worker foots 90% of the US tacmx bill leaving only 10% to be covered by corporate income tax, capital gains taxes, estate taxes, gift taxes, miscellaneous income-tax, and customs duties taxes. All while 1% of our population holds 90% of our nation's wealth.
What is this never-ending nightmare
I'm genuinely depressed about how I've watched myself go from the can do worker that would never say no just because I enjoyed working yet after countless times of overworking and workplace harassment. It's genuinely made me give so little of a shit now. There is no way this is all there is to life, waking up everyday to a job you hate, getting screamed at and threatened by coworkers and customers alike every day for the rest of your life.
I'm a Laborer in a Public Works Department. Been here for several years and overall the job isn't terrible. I have a few more years I need to finish to secure my pension money. Long story short, there is a supervisor position available. They want to fill the position with this newer kid who got our old supervisor fired. (Old supervisor always backed the workers.) This new kid didn't have the necessary experience to become a Laborer let alone a supervisor but they waived it since he married a friend of a friend that's within our administration. No surprise that HR deemed every Laborer as unqualified, completely disregarding education and work experience. When it was…
The Oppression of Bosses
Go to college they said. You’ll have better luck finding a job they said. Let me say so far in my experience that has been absolute bullshit. I worked hard in college, got decent grades, did extracurriculars, etc. Yet I still can’t seem to find anyone who will hire me in a position that I’m interested. I had spent months and months searching, spending hours writing resumes, emails, getting more and more stressed when none of those positions responded. I finally decided to settle for the only jobs that would hire me which didn’t even require a hs diploma. Rn I hate my job so much, I’m just an office assistant in a healthcare setting which didn’t even require a degree or any special skills to get. But it was the only position that even offered me something somewhat close to a living wage. The other job requirements in my…
