Looking for creative reasons to take my PTO. We are supposed to fill out a piece of paper and state the reason we need the day off (even if it’s 2 months in the future) I usually put Dr. appointment even if it’s just a personal day. but I think it would be funny to add other reasons.
Thank You :)
I’ve been lurking in here & have severe social anxiety, but thanks to y’all I finally got over my fear of confrontation & am talking to HR & the DOL about the conditions of my job. I’ve saved every single email from any work contacts as a pdf & have kept a log of everything said & sent to me. Thanks all of y’all for all the great advice! Wish me luck
A little info: I (18M) work at a labor intensive job that physically requires me to walk over 20 miles a day for as long as it takes me to get the task done. Yesterday I worked 14 hours. My boss (25F) is extremely kind and patient. We have gotten along so well and we’re always texting back and forth about work and sending memes. I’m a supervisor at said job with roughly 3 people underneath me. There are no other employees besides us. I also have a form of arthritis, which she’s aware of. This morning my boss sends me a message asking me to come in a few hours early, no big deal. Due to our close relationship, I say something along this lines of, “Sounds good. I can be there at ___! Just curious, why are we starting then and not later?” Her response was, “We’ve not…
Useless supervisor
Need to vent…..I work in a job where my supervisor came from another department. They been with my department for 3 years. They do not know how to do any of the jobs within the department…..which honestly baffles me that they have gotten away with it for the past 3 years. They can do little things but nothing to ever really help us out when we are swamped…..like now. I seriously don’t know what they do all day except maybe attend meetings and running reports. I am the one always training our new hires because she doesn’t know how to do the job. One of my co workers went out on maternity leave a month ago and we just got a temp to help us. Guess who’s training them….. I have never worked in a position where the person who is above me can’t do my job. The temp actually…
Manager here. What do I do?
I am a manager. I know our P & L. We contract manufacture in NE USA. Union shops pay way higher. We are owned by a Corp with many plants. A few plants are Union. Most are not. We do not have the sales to support a union. We are barely staying afloat now. Corp would shut us down if my employees unionized. We would need to increase sales by 40 percent support wages comparable to local union shops. Sales are centralized, controlled by corporate and sent to the plant that corporate decides gets the sales. We rarely see new business. It would take 4 to 5 years to increase sales by 40 percent, assuming we lose no business. I am in a very high capital expense industry. (We need to buy expensive machines often) Idk what the take is. Let the business fail and look for new work? I'd…
