You all know that I’m talking about, I’m sure. I’ve been applying to positions for months and still haven’t landed anything. Either postings are scams, OR I don’t have enough experience (because no one will hire me to GET experience), OR I’m ghosted, OR I’m simply not chosen. The latter is actually the least frustrating. I went to an Ivy League, graduated top of my class a few years ago, have held great positions in the past, and have stellar references. I can only apply for remote positions. Desperation is setting in and it’s really taking a toll on me mentally and emotionally (and, if I don’t land something soon, physically as well). I’m just trying to get by, ya know? Any advice?

My company is forcing me to let go my contract recruiter for “cost savings” and so we look good on year end reporting even though my site is one of the most profitable in the state. They only work about 20 hours per week and help with a lot of the stuff I can’t get to. My current job (large employee owned engineering company), is removing the “remote” profile I was hired as and forcing us back into office by January 8th. We have a new president and CEO who previously has stated that he did not plan to change our virtual work style, mentioning that the company wants to keep a flexible work-life balance for their employees. On Dec. 1st, we received the email stating that was no longer the case and were getting a month's notice to find a way to get into the office. I am distraught as I was set to buy a home in April and am paid 23 USD per hour and am not going to be able to afford my own car on top of a house or apartment payment. This steals my life goals of the past two years, and I am devastated. I am going to have…
Workplace safety (SB-1044) It prohibits an employer from taking or threatening adverse action against any employee for refusing to come to work, or leaving, if the employee has a “reasonable belief” that the workplace or work site is unsafe. That includes taking an employee’s mobile device and preventing him or her from seeking help. It also requires an employee to notify the employer of the emergency condition requiring the employee to leave or refuse to report to the workplace or work site. The bill clarifies that these provisions are not intended to apply when emergency conditions that pose an imminent and ongoing risk of harm to the workplace, the worksite, the worker, or the worker’s home have ceased. Wage Transparency (SB-1162) SB 1162 requires companies that employ at least 15 people to include salary ranges in all job postings and provide them to existing employees upon request. It expands the…
