I have been working as a flooring installer for quite a while which is an ok job. My boss over the years has underpaid prevailing wages (forced to pay back this money from the IRS, but he didn’t pay most of us.), had us remove piles of asbestos without providing ANY protective gear, has physically grabbed employees, and has threatened to not pay us/pay us a week late for turning in our time cards late (sometimes we work extremely long hours and we leave our time cards inside the store and there is no way to turn it in the correct day). Who is best to report him to preferably anonymously and is it even worth it? How do companies like this even still exist? I don’t even get paid decent to put up with this shit. Feel somewhat trapped in this job in my small town.
Elon Musk tries to be funny in real life, gets booed offstage: https://newrepublic.com/post/169442/elon-musk-endlessly-booed-dave-chappelle-show I wonder how many want to boo their own CEOs. I wonder how many of those people are unionized. I wonder how many dream of a future without work.
We are both hr workers. Admin stuff etc. I'm public and union. She is private and not Union. (Canada). My friend claims to like her work place sure. (we aren't close so I'm not sure about salary) but I ask her if she stays over time (I'm in a union and get overtime pay) she says she's salaried and doesn't. She says you just get the job done. That's exploitative. Her argument though is that if you don't do the task quickly and someone does it faster you get fired. I pointed out union stops this too. (At least mine does) No hate just really don't get the mentality of liking overtime. I work 9-5. want me to work more? Pay me. I told my mom who also works over time and she says that's life. I think we need to stop acting like “this is fine”. Its OK to…
So I've been with my org for 4 months. It's been great. The beginning salary was a bit low, but I figured whatever. Tbh I didn't think I'd pass the background check and so negotiating the salary was a bit beyond me at that point. The perks/ benefits made it enough for me to forget the extra I should be getting paid. A trade-off, I figured… Recently my org did a 3rd party pay study, and I was identified as underpaid (surprise surprise). My annual salary was bumped 4k/ yr. (Honestly 6-8 seems more appropriate to me but I bet they're fudging- no worries, not looking a gift horse in the mouth.) But the kicker is this: 1) my boss had been telling me for awhile that she'd be looking to have me raised within a year. This am we were on a call where she said “isn't this raise…
Background: I graduated with an MBA in 2016, and I have over 8 years of experience in my field. Based on my education, years of experience, and skill set, I am qualified to be a VP and even have former colleagues at a VP level or higher at other companies in my industry. I've worked for my current employer for 2 1/2 years now and started as a senior position. Last years I was promoted to “lead,” which is a BS title since no other departments at my company have senior positions. I lead my departments programs, puresuade the executives to purchase a better software which I alone am implementing and establishing company-wide, and, next year they want me to learn all about ERM so I can establish that too which integrates with the software we purchased. I have 3 people under me in my sub-group, but there's another 7…
I am a different kind of manager
I’m an AM (Area Manager). Our company has a team of 16 of us throughout the country. We used to be managed by the VP of Biz Dev. Then one morning we are all called to a Teams meeting and told by the President that the VP is no longer our boss and the Director of Operations will be taking over. Literally no notice or transition. The VP and are friends and he still works for the company. It’s been very odd. The Dir starts off by introducing himself. He has 0 experience doing what we do (rare for our industry, managers usually have mandatory experience in the field). He explains that he’s been a mid to upper level manager his whole career and that he is “different” he adds that he will never bother us or micromanage and that he is really here to support us. Okay, will give…

Should I lie about my transportation?
Working late night shifts. I take taxi when going home at 4am. After, I send the receipt to the office and rhey give me money back. I also take taxi to work sometimes, but company doesn't pay for that ride. Only on my way back home. Sometimes at night I feel like walking and those nights I don't send any receipts. Receipts don't mention time and date on them. Is it ok if on those days where I walk back home, I send the receipt of my drive to work instead? I won't tell them it my drive TO work receipt, but they will never know anyway. And anyway they where supposed to pay for my ride, if i didn't decide walking that night.
