In summer 2021 I had a job which I had to leave abruptly due to a serious health issue. My manager denied that the final paycheck I had seen in their app of $400 existed, and stated nothing had arrived for me. I was 19, naive, sick, and didn’t have it in me to fight so I just decided maybe it was a mistake. Fast forward a year, the company sends me a letter about unclaimed property in that amount, check number and all. They state that I have to send x info to them or the funds will be remitted to the state on a date 1 week from when I received the letter. And it will take them 6-8 weeks to get back to me when I submit the info. I submit it immediately anyway. This was in August, and I never heard back from them. After 8…
Is the source of the extra strong anti-worker feeling among right-wingers right now just that simple and selfish? Yes, I know right-wingers have always despised workers, and that the upper class wants more profit and control, but I'm talking about the anger among rank-and-file right-wingers.
I would fucking kill for a 9-5 job.
70+ hours a week, rotating roster, varying start times. I'm done. I've lost all my friends and family due to the demands of this job. I see people complain about a 40 hour week, I can't even begin to fathom how liberating only working 8 hours a day would be. Considering going back to a minimum wage job or abandon job security and work as a casual 3-4 days a week to keep me afloat while trying to study again. I can't keep up this life any longer.
Inspirational story? This is just sad
I want to preface this with saying I am talking about one of my best friends who lives in and works in Tokyo Japan and what his work life balance is like. He works in the medical technology development field. A highly important and valued line of work that he truly loves but it highly stressful and a lot of to do with being forced and and expected to kiss up to management. Not only do you work unnecessary hours 10 hours is considered light, being underpaid considering what he does, working more than 5 days a week but you are expected to hang out with your coworkers especially management afterwork because that is where a lot of stuff gets done because that that is the way the work culture is and that means spending a lot of time at bars and night clubs. You might ask what's the problem…
Quit your job and build a homestead?
I’m curious if anybody here would seriously consider leaving the cities and working on becoming more self sufficient, learning practical skills, to live a sustainable homestead lifestyle, and building small communities with other like minded people? I realize this is unrealistic for many people that have immediate obligations and families to feed. But what about the rest of us? The younger generation that have the opportunity to escape wage slavery and are waking up to the reality of where things are headed with increasingly unsustainable cost of living, It won’t be easy and will take a lot work and manual labor, but you would be working for your own future and not slaving away for the greed system.. I’m sure we all know someone or have a family member that works in a skilled trade, go learn from them! offer up your time and work in exchange for learning a…
I currently work as a security guard and the vast majority of my day aside of my patrols I am basically doing nothing. My job has a no phone policy but I ignore it and play on my phone/gaming handheld to pass the time anyway. I read from other security guard jobs that they are free to use their phones and even gaming laptops to pass the time and managment doesn't care. I also don't see a supervisor maybe once every two weeks when they drop off my paycheck. For jobs I hear that being a night reception clerk at a hotel might be a job where they don't care if you are on your personal devices. I want to know what other options might be available that is slow and have lots of downtime to use phones/ gaming devices?
I created a terrible sin
I went to HR I suffer from anxiety. I work in security. I may have misunderstood a direction or order and this caused a few minute delay as I had another employer verify an issue. On the phone my supervisor’s began telling me I have no common sense and my anxiety broke, I had an attack and said something. I was ordered to report to the office. At the office I was informed how unacceptable my behavior was. I informed them I was having an anxiety attack and was told it didn’t matter and wasn’t an excuse. So after being berated for half an hour I hid in the restroom until I had enough composure go to my supply bag and get my emergency medications. When I came out I was confronted again. Another 10 min hiding in the restroom I finally go to my pills. So I committed the…
