For reference, we’re a very small business of 6 total people including the two owners. So yeah, she thought we “were volunteering our time for this” because the photos are for Christmas cards to give to customers. So I clocked back out and promptly put my hands in my pockets while my bosses set up the camera etc. My coworkers arrived and did not clock in. After about 10 minutes of me doing exactly nothing, my boss tells me I can clock in if I want to. I’m sorry for writing this weirdly, I just. What the shit? What the absolute fuck did my boss think I was gonna do after arriving at work? This is still work. Believe it or not, EVERYTHING I do for our customers is work, and I should be paid for it! It’s so weird how jobs involve getting paid for labor, even if that…
It's just their go-to thing to say, isn't it? “This sub is just an echo chamber.” “reddit is such a hive mind.” I ask you, what is the difference between an echo chamber and a large group of people who genuinely, honestly disagree with you? What are we supposed to do, designate a group of people to agree with some hateful bullshit so the conservatives don't feel left out? If you are someone who just really enjoys eating worms, and you go into some sub and talk about how you love eating worms, and almost everyone is like, oh wow yuk not my thing at all gross — is that sub an echo chamber? Have all those people just been brainwashed by diabolical anti-worm-eating propaganda perpetuated by the liberal media? No. Worm eating is just yucky. [anyone who wants to talk about sustainable protein sources of the future etc., calm…
the reward at the work party was a 1 extra day vacation not paid. my brother straight up left after that i’m just over here laughing cuz it’s so pathetic…
I could really use advice on how my partner can proceed with this bs from his job or if there's not really anything he can do. Ok so, my partner does general contracting for a small family business. It's the very old lady who owns the company, my partners father and my partner. And that's it. They do all the usual general contracting stuff. And while his dad helps out occasionally, he's getting old so he's not very much help and he's also mostly doing other management type things. So my partner is regularly and daily doing jobs on his own that a team of men would be working on. And he does a phenomenal job. People are always impressed with his work and the quality. Here's the recent issue, I've been telling my partner for a long time now that he doesn't get paid enough for the work he…
Is this really what the working world has become? A joke? Why are tiktokers on LinkedIn. It’s honestly an insult at this point to be working.
“Business needs > Annual Leave”
My annual leave is continuously rejected – I requested 2.5 days of leave, 4 months in advance, and got a 314 word email back (4 paragraphs), which could be summarised into two letters: “no”. It’s the fourth consecutive time they have rejected my annual leave. I spoke to HR who told me, and I quote “you’re coming across as very defensive, and I can see that you’re upset about this, but unfortunately business needs come as a priority to annual leave”. Some excerpts of emails from previous annual leave rejections (I’ve not added anything) (The previous annual leave to this, they said I don’t give enough notice – though I have 1 month for 1.5 weeks, fine, fair enough, this time I gave two months notice for 1 week): “Hi …. Given the notice issue we had last time, I wanted to let you know in advance my close friend’s…
I really don’t wanna serve the 4 month notice period I can only do 2 maximum since the other company requires me to start in 2. The current place I’m in I’m over worked and underpaid, how do I negotiate a reduction in time served. Thing is I need a experience certificate and I want them to give it even if term served is 2 months
Hi there guys, So because of my disability (I have aspergers syndrom), I've been spending years and years (yes, several years) unemployed, despite having a BA and a Master's degree. I was able to live very decently because where I live (South of France) we get what's called a “disability fund”, and I didn't have to pay a rent because…well, let's just say I'm lucky enough to be able to live alone in a comfortable appartment without paying rent. So I was actually ok, and, in fact, life wasn't unpleasant. But without that…man, my life would have been really tough. A friend of mine who's a business owner helped me cover the gaps by giving me a work certificate certifying that I had been working for him for years, and that helped quite a bit, I was 30 at that time…except covid happened and it was impossible to find a…
