Retail theft is at an all time and impacting the cooperate profits of rich CEO (oh boo hoo) perhaps pay people more money and they don’t steal?

https://www.foxbusiness.com/retail/former-home-depot-ceo-organized-retail-theft-epidemic-spreading-faster-covid Here's the main article I found, of course it's a “Fox” news feed. One line in the article it even states that it could effect the potential revenue of one of the greedy fat cats. However do they understand people who don't normally steal, steal because they don't have enough money to pay the overly inflated prices on those products. Perhaps is Americans in general were paid accordingly and the price of certain commodies were not constantly marked up to meet record breaking profit margins for these cooperate ass hats people might not steal

I don’t think I can get out of this one

Rant: tl/dr: a truck driver was rude, then called and said we were the rude ones and is threatening to pull his business. No audio so the bosses are probably taking his side. I’m a shift lead for overnights at a truck stop. I had a bad customer last night who “jokingly” threatened to take his belt off and beat my associate with it when she asked him to repeat what he said. I wasn’t there when he made the threat but she immediately called for me to take over. I came and checked him out and he spent the entire time ranting about how he is loud and jokey, how we don’t smile enough and are rude and unfriendly and how he has a wife in corporate and she won’t mind coming and “fixing” us. I was polite but not super smiley and jokey with him, 1) because my…

Help anti work!

I am underpaid and overworked but I stay at my job because of the flexibility. I work in home of clients so they never see what we’re doing. We work our asses off and always get work done on time. Sometimes I will clock in at home and do my work bc I live 40 min away from the city we work in. We are not permitted to work at home but some of us do anyway to save on gas and time. Well today they implemented a new clock in system where our IP address is logged when we clock in and clock out. I know they did this to track where we are. How can I bypass this?

Boss has started nitpicking as we head towards my employee review

As we get towards the end of the year, it will soon be time for my employee review and compensation discussion. All of a sudden, my boss is nitpicking me over any minuscule error, or even a perceived error. She literally called me today to chastise me for not putting page numbers on a document. It’s maddening because I know exactly why she’s doing this. She’s coming down really hard on my performance now, so that when I sit across from her in three weeks and try to argue why I deserve a raise, she’s going to say I haven’t been meeting standards. Is anyone else’s boss like this?

Feels like I seen this “lengthy message” on this Reddit so I figured I could post the justice here.

I just wanna quit and make video games

I'm a software engineer, and I have been underpayed consistently by the industry. I'm bad at negotiating and routinely end up getting 50% of what the industry standard is I feel really hopeless and I just want to quit doing it all, but I don't want to live on the street. I would love nothing more than to just work every day on my own projects (I find ways to take time away from work to do this anyway) but I need the income to keep a roof over my head. I know this must be a common question, but all of us here are anti work. Is there a plan? How does one disengage?

Anyone else have a manager who thinks forwarding emails all day is work?

I work for a large organization. The manager of our area seems to think that taking area-wide emails that we have already received and adding buzz words to them is his job. He then sends them back out to the same people that already have them the first time from the original sender. He adds one like sentences like – Hot Topic Now, Keep the Focus, Our play for the day, All hands on deck for this one, etc. I get literally hundreds of these a week and very few ever pertain to me anyways. I have no evidence he actually does anything else. Is this normal?

Law firm sues associate for lack of billing. And wins. Twice

https://abovethelaw.com/2022/12/law-firm-sues-associates-for-not-billing-enough/ “The law firm of Larson Latham Huettl sent bills to two former associates alleging “overpayment” when the associates didn’t bill enough. The firm took both to court and won — both cases are on appeal” From company policy: ” Hours Billed Discrepancy. In the event that Associate bills out less than the base quota for a three month [sic] period, the Associate’s salary will be reduced appropriately at the discretion of LLH in order to make up for any discrepancy. Any discrepancy where the actual hours billed is less than the base hours required will be considered to be a debt owed by Associate to LLH at the end of the calendar year or at the termination of employment.” Seeeesh!

Help! My boss talks incessantly

Apologies if this is not the right place for this post, but it seems like it's relevant. In my department, the manager talks excessively. I would even say compulsively. It's a joke around the whole office to avoid her office because she talks so much. She often complains about how much work she has to do, but she could probably get a lot more done if she talked less. This becomes a problem for those of us whom she oversees because a conversation that could be 10 minutes long turns into 45 minutes. A meeting that could have been 30 minutes turns into 60+ minutes. Plus, she likes to have meetings and I've heard whispers that she is going to push for us to have more. She doesn't get social cues. Literally as I'm walking out her office and halfway down the hallway she's still talking to me. She repeats…
