I mean you have very limited options: – Be like Ted Kaczynski and build a small cabin and live out in the woods – Join some primitive Amazon rain forest tribe, and hope they accept you – Grab a boat and find some tiny remote island where no one is around, and live off the land – Be homeless And those options aren't glamorous either, and will likely leave you totally alone. So basically your mother gave birth to you, and now you're forced to participate in the current society. Deal with it, and have fun?
House costs less than apartments
My parents pay $1,500.00 a month in mortgage for their house payment. I had moved into an apartment that was costing me 1,900 a month. The square footage of their house is 3354. My 3rd story apartment was 1262 Sqft. When did living in an apartment become more expensive then to own a house? Why is that even possible?
No one wants to work anymore poem
No one wants to work anymore. PTO? What do you need that for? Family and friends? You should ignore. Sick leave? You could still put in a few hours for sure. Pay Raises? There is no room to explore. Work-life balance? Surely that’s part of folklore. A pizza party? That’s all we can afford. Wait, you’re leaving? Here, take what you asked for! All, “9th employee this year” doesn’t work for us anymore. No bonuses or raises, but there’s some more work for everyone in store. An inexperienced higher paid new guy for you to mentor. No one wants to work anymore.
I was working as an E-Commerce Marketing Manager for a local small business that was a retail store with an online presence for almost 5 years. I got COVID from my mom over the New Years holiday and was home for the first two weeks of the year. When the time came for me to go back to work, I was getting ready for work and I sent a group text to my boss and supervisor asking if I was all good to come back after the 14 day quarantine. My boss said they I needed a negative test before I returned, which was not a problem because I had a rapid test ready. I mentioned that the CDC guidelines said negative tests weren’t required to return to work if you quarantined but I had no issue giving a negative test. While I was waiting for my test results, he…
completely lost
I just got forced to quit my job this past Tuesday. I worked in manufacturing (flooring) for the same company for over six years. I was on a swing shift that allowed for overtime practically whenever I wanted. Thursday before last they called a meeting to tell us we were going to 3 shifts (ten days on four days off) and that they would get with us individually to tell us which shift we would be on. They placed me on second shift (3p to 11p) which would mean that 20 days of each month I would be leaving before my fiancee and 2 y/o son got home and coming in after they are in bed. I would miss dinner time, play time, bath time, story time and bed time, all things that are routine for us. My son just wouldn't understand. I tried to negotiate my way out of…
I actually love where I work. I’m an integral part of a process that results in a beautiful thing at the end of the day. But that notwithstanding, I am paid significantly less than I require to pay my bills and have food to eat, let alone maybe save a few dollars a month to act as a bulwark against some unforeseen occurrence. And I am fucking tired of living like this. I’m 49 years old and I’ve got a SHITLOAD of experience as a factory mechanic. And I literally have no idea if I’m going to make rent next month. Like I said, I dig where I work, and one of the reasons why is that my boss is a very good person. We got absolutely shitfaced on the river with my dog and I told him that come Monday, I wasn’t going to be able to come to…
