I've been seeing this clause at the bottom of job descriptions while applying recently and this is exactly why the media has been gaslighting everyone with “quiet quitting”. Corporations and capitalists needed to manufacture an excuse to be able to tell us that our job responsibilities are what they tell us they are when they tell us, so they can add more responsibilities based on their discretion to extract more labor out of us without having to compensate us for the added work. “Quiet quitting” was always propaganda to shift more power towards employers. UNIONIZE!
Just got home from an interview
I responded to the ad included and just came back from an interview. The manager spent all this time talking about how everyone there is a family, and how they take care of each other. Their ad indicates they require someone with experience, and as you can see, it comes with lots of responsibilities. During the interview, they stressed that this is a physically demanding job, and a lot of people struggle with the non-stop barking and getting bitten frequently. Rent.com states the average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment in my city goes for $2,187. The job pays $8, no benefits. I haven't even heard of a job paying that little in years. That's how much I made at my first-ever job 20 years ago. https://preview.redd.it/xgjd5l37u2p91.jpg?width=1133&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0be22e96ab927d987e899d5d8c20498e8bf37af2 I just sat in silence for a moment. How can they put so much emphasis on saying they take care of their employees, require…
I got hired onto a company in the sales team as a BDR (business development rep) to basically vet all the inbound leads. According to my now manager, at the time they had “so many inbound leads we didn’t know what to do with them all”. So I was hired to go through them all and see which ones were worth it to sell to and which ones were crap. Almost immediately when I go hired, the marketing budget was completely cut, so no more inbound leads. And I was told I am switching to 100% cold outbound prospecting. And to try to get meetings that way. If anyone has done sales, cold outreach is very very hard and tedious. Now, I have my boss looming over my shoulder asking me why I haven’t booked many meetings when the reality of the situation is I was not hired on to…
I’ve never gotten “Grind culture”
Neurodivergent – ADHD. I've never understood working unpaid overtime or basically working for free. I have always left at 5:05 every day. Because that's all I am paid to do. I don't have the motivation to work for free. Plain and simple. Never have. I never understood how people have the motivation to work for free. ADHD brain – there's no reward then I don't care for it. Same with taking all my breaks. When I worked at the restaurant, I was called “lazy” because I took all the granted breaks. I don't get it. Why give breaks if you don't expect people to use them? Who the hell actually wants to stand for 7 hours straight? Am I going to get paid more if I don't take the breaks? No. So logically, why work an extra 30 minutes for free when I can just take the designated breaks? People…
