I interviewed for a new job a couple weeks ago, the first time interviewing for a real, full time job since graduating college. This past year I've just been doing a variety of gig work/part time jobs to make ends meet. I was actually really excited about it. I was torn how I did on the interview, but they asked to schedule a second interview so I was super excited. It's been almost a month since my first interview, but the manager told me she was going on vacation so we scheduled it for tomorrow. We literally scheduled it over two weeks ago, before she left for her holiday. Just got an indeed message that they've “gone in a different direction.” Literally less than 24 hours before my in person interview that I scheduled weeks ago. Early afternoon on a weekday. I get that they're trying to be honest rather…
Xxxx, as a supervisor of the X Department it is imperative that daily communication is vital within your role. The following are incidences that requires your attention: 1. Since April we have spoken on several occasions regarding how during training items were skipped on the checklists, logs not balanced for days, cases created from emails but not communicated creating extra work, saving reports on your direct reports checklist so you could balance logs but not communicating to them creating extra work. Communication with me and your direct reports: when completing tasks not communicating in Teams as instructed, researching, or completing tasks assigned to others but not communicating to the Team creating unnecessary work for others. 2. Daily check-in with direct reports: as a supervisor your duties include communicating with your direct reports to ensure the workflow goes smoothly. Since July we have spoken about setting up expectations with your team…
Dress codes are about control
My sister was unemployed for the first year of Covid. Then she was finally hired for a waitress job which she has done for over a decade. She owns a pair of black non-slip shoes and grey non-slip shoes. First day on the job they were appalled she didn’t show up in white non-slip shoes. Which you wouldn’t buy unless part of the uniform because in the restaurant they get really dirty and scuffed up easily. No one told her she had to have them prior. The other thing is we live in a very remote tourist area with no shoe stores or uniform stores for 100 miles. So they sent her home for the day. I had to buy her white non-slip shoes online with overnight delivery for her since she had no money. And it took a couple days to come. She explained to them the shoes are…
Nice and dystopian
To get a “great job” you need to do anything and everything you can for the company and bend over for them. There’s a difference between working hard, and coercing the definition of working hard to sacrificing your life for the company, fine line. It’s like companies don’t want to appeal to the workers want to be mentally healthy, want a great life, and is feel great about themselves. They want to appeal to those in desperate need of money, in survival mode, will take the bare minimum to work for them and do whatever possible. They want those who will appreciate their breadcrumbs and carrot on the stick. Which is why people who actually care about themselves and have the option to quit realize a job is just lowering the quality of their life. Companies don’t offer you a job to raise the quality of your life, they offer…
Hello everyone. I tried searching through the sub, but didn’t really find anything about the actual process. I need to take FMLA. I am MISERABLE at my job and my co-workers are treating me like shit. I need to get an MRI due to prolonged dizziness which I suspect is from severe tension and stress (yes I’ve already tried PT, massage, ENT, urgent care – finally got an in depth ear test but anyway) I cry almost every day at work. My question is, do I need to let my employer know first this is something I want to do? They provide FMLA. Do I go to my doctor first? I printed off the WH-380-E form. Can I just take that into my PCP and ask them to fill it out? Afterwards, can I choose how long I’m out/if it’s intermittent or consecutive? Just lost on the process but want…
I worked for a company and went through nearly a decade of abuse before finally being forced out in a structured firing. Several years after I left, one of my best friends whom I refer to as Brother, was offered a supervisor position. Today when I spoke to him I jokingly asked if he had fired anyone lately, and the above was his response.
Would you work during a Hurricane?
My job wants me to work from home during the hurricane (i live near the coast in FL and we're under a hurricane watch) despite the potential dangers. Would you acquiesce to their request? Or quit do due the company not valuing the safety if their employees
