As the title says, it’s absolutely cruel and should honestly be illegal…. But it isn’t… because America. I work for one of the biggest car dealerships in the country and today we had a big meeting where they told us that we were all working reduced hours. A 20 hour work week to be exact. They told us how “business is business” and we could not afford to stay in business while having full hours and that we need to “work harder with little time.” The person who gave this shitshow of a speech makes well over 100K a year. The people next to him make about the same, maybe a bit less. A week or so ago, they preached on how we were a “family” and how were “United.” And this week they hit us with this. Pretty fucking scummy How do you guys feel about reducing hours during…
Got let go today *long rant I’m sorry*
Got let go today, was within my 90 probationary days (trust me I know the whole spiel) but it still sucks after no warning, no negative feedback ever and just being told how great I am. What sucks even more? It was over text and started with “hey girl” I’m waiting for the official termination letter to submit for unemployment but no response yet and I have an interview lined up tomorrow morning, just blindsided, confused and hurt. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise to find a better job with better pay and offers actual benefits.
I was told I’d get a 50 cent raise at my one year mark. They gave everyone a 50 cent raise earlier in the year because the economy got really bad, and that’s their justification of not giving my one year raise. I’m thankful for that 50 cents, but it’s not on account of me working there for one year, so I don’t feel appreciated. What should I do? What information should I gather before talking to my manager? Thanks 🙂

I’ve got a job offer from a company with a $1500 sign on bonus. I know usually there’s some insane stipulation, IE after six months of no call outs or only if they like your work or whatever. But I just have a nasty feeling about why they’d offer the sign on bonus if the job itself doesn’t sound that terrible.
