This has been making the rounds on Reddit. To steal from Walmart or not to steal from Walmart seems to be the question.

people aren’t even working at work, but refuse to let me not work

This is a kinda frustrating thing, that theoreticall shouldn't bother me but it.. kinda does. Currently we got revision. Means we shut the entire place down, and we all get some hands-on work to fix up as much of the place as we can to keep everything in working condition when we are open for the public again.. Anyway, something that bugs me is the way people “work”.. one guy doesn't even change out of his street clothes for the entire day, even though there is no real task at hand where you get away without getting dirty. Another one is just there for 4 hours, spends those 4 hours on the office computer (not doing anything as far as I know), drinking coffee and leaving. Then there are the 3 idiots that do all kinds of shit. Okay, accepted, screwing around here and there is fine in my book,…

Hit a wall at work. Need advice.

Alright, so. I work at a German grocery chain in,the United States. Recently I finally was able to get medicated and ive just been beasting it out at work right. I've delved into our policy, my work ethic had skyrocketed etc. Right now I'm next up for promotion. Just waiting for the herd to thin. Well. Turns out I'm able to prioritize things better than some of our current Supervisors. I know alot more than the average associate and I'm naturally inquisitive. And this has caused me to butt heads significantly with 2 of our under performing supervisors. I'm not actively subverting them, I'm not actively trying to do wrong. They just see me asking about their methods and my over performing as….”stepping on toes and disrespect of their title”. Which every other member of management has zero issue with the things i do. Even my Assistant Manager was like…

If workers are unable to unionize and directly negotiate pay, sick days, etc. with their employer, what are the pros/cons of them leaving, starting a company together, and then selling their labor in a B2B context?

Looking for feedback on my opinion here. It could be pretty naive as I'm no expert. Instead of working under your employer while trying to convince them to give you the pay and rights you desire, you could just quit and be self-employed and then negotiate for the same rights and pay. This probably wouldn't work in a single case, but like many things, if enough people do this, it would be very effective. If you can coordinate enough people to strike, you can also coordinate them to set their own rate and figure out how much they think their labor is worth. They would be doing that already in order to unionize. With many people offering their labor in a business to business transaction at a certain rate, you are setting the market rate for that labor. One downside I can think of is that you would be subject…

I am going to be offered a promotion soon, so I’m looking for advice on negotiating the pay I deserve

In this department there are 3 jobs and one management position. Our manager was fired a few months ago and the role has been filled by someone from another department who was handling both roles for months- for the same pay. She started training me to take over and now I am doing my normal role, handling the manager duties for 7/8 hours in the day, and training new hires for another one of the roles. This has been going on for a week and I enjoyed it and like the job but I deserve to be back paid for that. I wanted to find out what my old manager’s salary was but I can’t find that info, so I’m trying to prepare myself to negotiate. I was told that on Monday I would have a meeting with the owner of the company and the person who was acting manager…

Understaffed because of current staffing shortage

I'm staying the night at a popular hotel with an indoor water parkdown in the Cape. My son was hungry, so I went to the small grill located in the water park. The line was significantly long, and there was one young lady working the till and the grill. The young lady went out back and we waited 20 mins in line and the young lady had yet to come vack. My wife stayed in line with my son and I went to the front desk. I asked how many people were working the cafe and they replied one, which was typical of late as they are understaffed because of the on going staffing shortage. Found that response upsetting, as the position is likely paying next to nothing, with no benefits. Their excuse seems more like a made up scapegoat.

Even federal jobs are shitty

I have a skilled job at a University. I’m working 200-220 hours a month, and I make a measly 2300 after taxes etc. Some weeks I work 35 hours of overtime or more. My budget without groceries or daily expenses requires 3000. It’s crazy to me that even with salaries on public record, there is no shame in underpaying. My department didn’t give raises for almost a decade. Last year, they offered just 4%. That’s my complaint. Fuck work.
