First of, the context. I'm working as a security in a office/grocery hybrid. It's good for praxis, because I'm easily able to manipulate the CCTV clips and remove employees taking food from dumpsters. Anyway, I was on a 15 hour shift as usual, and that middle aged lady came in. She said she was supposed to be trained by me, and my superior (a guy who works 400 hours a month) said that it's correct. She was asking a lot of questions I didn't know answers for, because it's not in the field of what I'm supposed to know. After about 13 hours together, she pulled her mask off and said she was an inspector, sent here to see the quality of our services. She was not happy with me at all. A few days ago I got a memo that my shifts are now taken by her, so I…
Ideal Business Structure
So I am coming really close to starting my own business. It’s going to start with three of us. I gave myself 34% of the business, and my two partners 33% each. We provide educational services in a fun way that we would volunteer for. If the business takes off, then others will probably want to join us. What would be a fair way to add new members? I believe everyone should have a path to ownership. However, I also think those of us who founded the business should maintain a greater share than those who come later.
Older workers
Any age 50+ workers out there (like me), who are completely used up, dead inside, and panic every, single day wondering how we are going to hold out mentally/physically for another 10-15 years? Not sure I can and the thought is soul crushing to say the least.
Fuck this Dystopian nightmare.
Don’t let capitalism win
TLDR: It doesn't matter where you come from or what you do, you might find that legit hip-hop is the voice we need. Life can be strange. Fifteen years ago, I was working 50 and 60 hours a week in a non-union coal mine seven miles from where I grew up and was raising my own children. Long story short, my union roots got the best of me, and I got the fuck out of that mess after a final few blows with management. I may or may not have gotten a little bit radicalized by the whole situation. I also realized that coal companies had done more than work us to death, they were actively destroying and polluting our land much more than I previously realized. I became involved in environmentalism against mountain top removal (MTR) coal mining and eventually managed to get a scholarship (at the age of…
Jennifer was great, no complaints about her at all. However, McDonald’s profits as of Sept 2022 were $3.446 billion dollars (up 7.93% from last year). I know you’re a franchise, and not corporate, but I assume your profit margin is similar. Instead of raising prices on consumers during this record high time of corporate greed, you should pay Jennifer and the rest of your staff more. Weren’t they “essential” employees during the early part of the pandemic? Treat them as such and pay them a thriving wage.
Cause that’s what they company I work for did this year. Looks like it’s time to look for a new job
I know that the law being used to arm bar the railworkers is specifically tailored to fuck them over, so as a point of solidarityfor the entire working class, wouldn't it be beautiful if the nation could do the protesting for them. Protect their future and support them. I know they would wreck the economy but all the rest of the unions could too and they, as far as I know, don't have sniper targeted laws made against them… yet.
No Managers
Last week I started working at a Jack in the Box franchise. None of the restaurants in town have management. The employees at my location just run the place as best they can tho I'm the only one who speaks english. I also open the restaurant at 6 am. I've been feeling sick all week and today I decide to call in. I feel like shit and it would be irresponsible to serve food in this state. However I have no one to contact. Whenever something goes wrong or an employee needs time off or sick leave no leadership is present. Is this the case across fast food service rn? I tried calling in alot but no reply. I hope I don't get fired for THEIR inability to run their shit
