Don’t know how to write this because I didn’t think it would come to this I'm writing this just after me and my girlfriend was fired. So excuse the grammatical errors as I'm livid. Me and my partner started working at this Hotel called The Gracellies in the Isle of Wight (for those of you who don’t know where that is, it’s a small island off the south coast in the UK) We’re originally both from London and decided to work here for a bit. (We're both the only minorities within a 70 mile radius to put into perspective) Coming into this job I was apparently supposed to be the main bartender and my girlfriend was the new receptionist. After working here we found out there is this show called Hotel Inspectors (S17 E02) which featured the hotel. The episode speaks for itself about what the hotel is like. As someone who…
Advice over targeted negligence
Will try to be as concise as possible, as I'm ranting basically. So I work as a dishwasher in a high volume, well regarded restaurant. It's not glamorous, but I love the kitchen crew I work with. There hasn't been a problem at all until recently. This comes in the form of my dishing partner. A few weeks back as we were closing out the pit, she decided she was done whenever she wanted and closed around me. When I confronted her about this she grabbed her things and called me a “certified ass bitch” before leaving. Even before this incident I've done the majority of the work, running plates and pots out to where they need to go. The woman literally sits (on the ground) watching shows on her iPad. She as well works with her boyfriend. According to the my other coworkers whenever they work together she does…
My work rant for the day
I’m by no means the smartest person. But i can only do things that I am trained to do, otherwise I’m obviously not going to know when to do it or execute it well. If I encounter a situation that i’ve never dealt with before, it seems that I almost always get insulted, called stupid, slow, or told that i’m always behind and making trouble. I don’t really know how to handle it, it hurts on a professional and personal level.
Let the down votes come. With inflation, a “normal” size home cost 500k and above. I highly doubt I'll be able to retire in my lifetime. I felt like we were taught the wrong things such as go to college and work a job for 40 years and retire. I don't think that's possible anymore. I didn't even mention the health problems people get as they get older.
One mistake means we’re all incompetent
My manager came during a time with a busy workload when we were already short-staffed to tell my team we need to do our jobs. When I pointed out that all the things he was saying were the most basic of our duties, he berated me in front of my colleagues and shared a mistake I had made last week. I laughed at him and pointed out that my entire job is fixing other people’s mistakes, and that human error is inevitable. He proceeded to say my team was incompetent in earshot of the whole workplace. I’d like to point out that management never checks in on us, or asks if they can do anything to help things run smoothly, or even listens to our suggestions for improvements. It’s not until something goes wrong that they come in to berate us. And I’m honestly surprised that’s the only mistake I’ve…
